If they would turn your truck up to say 75, you would get over ten mpg.... lol

You're dispatched from wherever you go empty at- it really doesn't matter what terminal your FM is located at. When you want hometime, just request it giving your FM a couple of weeks notice. They'll arrange a load that delivers near your home. You run the load, drop the trailer where they tell you to, and bobtail home.

Awesome because I know how difficulty the job can be but hometime is crutical to any truckers morale.

In three years on the company side, I never had trouble getting home- only late by one day once. They went the extra mile at Christmas one year, and had me bobtail from N. Platte NE to Denver CO on the company's dime. During serious family emergencies, they'll do everything they can to get you and your truck home as quickly as possible.

It does depend on freight cooperating, but all-in-all, they do a pretty good job of making it happen. That's my experience a few years back, your mileage may vary.

Hubs was dispatched on a load that went thru the house, with enough time to stick around the house for a day. He arrived on Xmas Eve and left late Xmas Day. Note from FM: Go home, have a Merry Christmas. We hadn't planned on him being home for Xmas at all that year. We had hometime scheduled for New Years.

I was with my trainer during Christmas. My folks lived in IL at the time so our FM got us a load to Chicago and I was able to meet my Dad, because his FM was able to get him a load there as well. We bobtailed home and had a nice Christmas. I stayed with my family for four days because my trainer got a load from his home in FL up to WI.
With enough notice the FM's get you home pretty well.
