I dont know what part of Iowa you are from but stay away from Kane Transport. There fuel haulers with minimal work, im looking to make a jump asap this is the heart of the fuel season and im working 30 hrs a week. Look into TMC and maverick they both should be hiring depending on your area.

Switching companies is also a fearful thing cause a lot of these companies seem to think they need a week long orientation explaining every detail about the history of the company that no one cares about. That's a week of orientation pay which is normally like $200 then you gotta run another week, turn in your loads, then run another week then you get your first paycheck.

I've thought about trying flatbed. I've only pulled reefer and dry van so far. Any flatbed guys here? Thoughts? Us the extra work and hassle of tarping, strapping, chaining, weather worth it?

Are you still looking at just big companies? Your best bet might be some 50 truck fleet with no website. Check your local want adds, and maybe indeed.com

With the pay your claiming you're getting right now, it doesn't sound like training pay is that huge a cut. Most places pay around 60 a day for orientation (usually 3 days), than 500 a week behind the wheel training. I wouldn't worry about it that much, better pay for years after a one month pay cut.

WHATEVER YOU DO STAY AWAY FROM K&B!!! I gave then six good months of safe driving and they always managed to find a way to screw my check... My highest net with them was $389.76 when I was supposed to be guaranteed $950.00 a week! What they don't tell you until your on the last day of orientation is that if you don't meet certain criteria each week you don't get that guarantee, only cpm, and when you take your home time if you don't come back by monday morning at 7am you lose that guarantee for two weeks!!

you have a big company. find an LTL(less than truckload) carrier in your area, youll make more money even just working the dock than what you are now

    old dominion freight lines
    fedex freight
    con-way freight
    yrc freight
    r+l carriers
    Saia
    Estes Express

There might be other regional LTL companies up there...try even food service as well..

Just go to indeed.com and put in like cdl a, linehaul or ltl and see what comes up..found a bunch of decent gigs when I searched, but I dont know exactly where in IA you are.
