Can someone please explain what the recap does ? My company is making us take 34 off every 5 or 6 days when we get to close to 70 to work another shift . How can you never have to reset if you recap ? Thanks in advance .

Recap is the hours you get back after 7 days. If you work 7 hours on a Monday (on duty and driving time combined) and don't take a reset, then the following Tuesday you'll have 7 hours add back into your 70 clock. I've been running recap since the 30th of last month (no reset)

So if you never hit your 70 you don't have to reset ? Sorry , I'm having a hard time digesting this one despite getting straight A's in math . I think I read the regs so many times that I've confused myself .

Correct, if you don't use all your hours then you'll just get hours back day by day without a reset

    mgrib and milkdud Thank this.

If you got a paper log, typically on the right side you have boxes to put numbers in. These are the hours you worked, combined on duty not driving, and driving. When you add them up properly on the 8 th day you will get the hours back from your first day out. If you keep up on it and fill it out every day, the math takes care of itself.

DrtyDiesel, milkdud and mgrib Thank this.
