And this is why I don't worry about people selling company fuel, tires, loadlocks or pallets. Happy drivers don't bend their company over a barrel and ram it in.

Did everybody notice that they removed the "Check on my Detention" macro on our Qualcoms?!?! My guess is that so many drivers were getting pissed off about Marten stealing detention pay that they just took it out.
Our fleet manager sent out the same message justifying the theft three different times so it's happening a lot.
Full disclosure: This has been bugging me for a long time. When I spoke with the OOIDA lawyer he was clear Marten would fire me if they found out who I was and what I wanted to do. I've been sitting on this a while so that I couldn't be identified. The email for this account is a pseudonym (not my real name).
Am doing research to find out who has sued them successfully before. Think the smartest plan is to build a list of drivers equally pissed off and equally concerned about staying anonymous. - maybe even passing out cards at truck stops to Marten drivers directing them to a website/phone number when fueling or stopping for the night.
Once that list is two or three hundred drivers we "flip the switch" and file the class action. They can't fire half of their drivers all at once.Last edited: Jul 16, 2013

EXACTLY the same point the OOIDA lawyer said, Jim. Companies that steal from their drivers NEVER profit from it.
I just can't do that though. Not a thief... -

Remember boys and girls, one in the hand is worth two in the bush. All companies are made of a big castle o' you know what. It just really depends on how much you want to eat to benefit yourselves. MartenMan has a good suggestion and it happens to be one that all truck drivers across the board should be with. And thats being with each other. We oughta BOND with one another and take the industry for our benefit. Just as the ☆☆☆☆in companies have took it for their own. Take up with, no matter who or what you are, and stand with........EACH OTHER. For US...
Clintonstain Thanks this. -
Bigtime fail because obviously, the driver is an amatuer, and has only been there for 6 weeks. Not NEARLY enough time to have them all figured out. Give it more time, and that "goid" money you are talking about will dry up and disappear. Nuff said, end of story.

This is their policy. They have it in writing. You agree to the policy when you go through orientation and accept first load. You have no fight.
-
If it's writing then there is no recourse. One reason not to work for someone. Make sure you read all the fine details. Bonuses are a good example when they attach all kinds of unreachable stipulations.
A company like that I would say if you aren't paying then I should be free to pull away from the dock.
Companies don't bill the customer according to your HOS. They are just cabbaging on the extra money. Red flag!! -
USC 49 states detention to be paid after 2 hours of waiting detention starts 60/hr not to exceed 16 hours

Good grief. Welcome to working for another junk OTR company! Nothing but excuses.
