Hi again, any good starter companies in Canada, I'm in Bc at present?
I would like to team/ co-drive for a while. I am just over a year in Canada and still on a temporarely working visa, thus the company must be willing to support me with paper work.
Any comments or suggestions?
Thanks -
A couple of us here on the board trained with tru in kamloops and were very satisfied. the coq and canyon are right there to train in and lots of varied terrain.
MTI is more about long haul with certain partner companies. Check out the agreement you have to sign to work for challenger after that course, 6 months team at slave wages, required to maintain a residence in the lower mainland on those wages. -
Myself I went through the University in Kamloops as it is no longer considered a college now. The change over from a college to a University happened about a year and a half ago now. You will have to get a hold of Ray Trenholm at the University to find out more info on a program that would suite you best.
If you are new to the class 1 industry though I would highly recommend the:
[h=2]Class 1 - Greenhorn Truck Driver Program[/h]
I am not a recruiter or anything I personally took that program with them and was very satisfied with what they did for me. For one I caught on to things extremely fast in due to the way the instruction is done. I am more of a hands on learner and most all of there instruction they do you have allot of hands on. Two I was able to get my License way before the program hours were over so for the last two days my instructor I had made me practice backing up to loading docks.
We also shunted some trailers from one side of Kamloops to the other. I ended up getting all this extra in due to me showing them I wanted to be there. I showed them I was paying attention to them. The more you show them your willingness to listen the more open they will be to giving you more than what they normally offer.
They do offer other courses so this course may not be a good fit for you if you already hold say a class 3 and you just want to upgrade your license to say a class 1.
Hope this helps. -
How do you get any mountain driving experience in Lethbridge?
-
You run to Vancouver by going over the Creston/Salmo for starters.
-

-
They run all over North America.
-
try lo Mac they hire new drivers. I believe they will help with your licence as well.
