Hey everyone its been awhile since I have had time to post.
I am completing my year next week and will recount my experience for those of you thinking about joining this company. I myself went through the driver solutions network and signed on with PAM for a year to pay for it. My recruiter didn't lie but just like anything else you need to do your homework so there is nothing for them to lie about. At the end of the year this is what I can tell you. PAM is one of the 80%. For those of you who are newbies you will learn that in trucking about 80% of the companies are the same. They generally offer the same benefits with only slight differences, the same pay give or take a cent or two a mile, the same miles ect. With PAM I found my miles lacking a bit usually running about 2000 to 2500. The biggest complaints I can have with them is there pay scale is on the lower side compared to most companies they compete with. after the first six months I found things improved. You will receive some pay raises and finish with some of your deductions like your escrow. after that you do get some financial breathing room. As for home time there the same as many places. You get 1 day for every week your out and if you need it you can usually get an extra day with no one saying anything to you. I learned the best way was to go out at least 4 weeks so you can collect some decent checks than you get enough time off to run your errands and relax. I only ever got home late once and that was with a DM who was still learning. It helps if you live in a higher freight area. On the positive note I have found that there single health and dental are cheaper than a lot of companies and I know my dental is a pretty good plan to the average. They do not offer detention pay and there layover pay is once again a little low.
Overall PAM has treated me alright. They leave some places for improvement but they aren't the worst out there. You will get mad and frustrated with them at times but good luck finding any job anywhere that you wont encounter that. This is a decent place to do your year if you have to be under contract. My advice weather you choose PAM or another company is to stick it out no matter what. its much easier than switching a couple months in and having to start your year over at the bottom of another company and deal with the same or similar problems

Smart move. I drove for them for 2.5 years, putting in 250k miles for them and one thing I've noticed was the huge ups and downs with them. Just about the time I started looking at other companies, things improved. My rock bottom point was in my first year while I was still only making 25 cents a mile and got stuck sitting a majority of the time. I was actually making less than I did on unemployment and way below minimum wage. I lost my apt and my gf. By the time things improved, it was too late. Towards the end of my run with them, I was getting in 3300 miles a week, running between Michigan and Laredo. I saved up my money, cashed in 2 weeks of vacation pay and got the hell out. That was the flakiest employer I've ever had. They're cheap ##### in areas where they shouldn't be, but waste money hand over fist in other ways. I feels good to have gone from driving for them, directly to a top rated carrier. My current company irritates the hell out of me sometimes too, but at least I have more stability here and they are much more organized and sensible. I hope things work out for you.
