Before the new HOS rules took effect, I was essentially a walking zombie, surviving off of 5 hour energy drinks and sticking my head out the window to stay awake. Now that I am taking the 30 minute rest break, I am always refreshed. In fact, I haven't slept since Monday, as there is no need. I can only imagine the feeling I have is comparable to owning a sleep number bed. Kudos to you, Anne Ferro, for applying your years of trucking experience and making it better for everyone.
The 30 minute rest break is incredible!

What a waste of forum space for this thread.
cowboy_tech, Roadmedic and dude6710 Thank this. -
KE5WDP, it truly is wonderful. I can't help but stop and do jumping jacks and pushups just to burn off energy.

Mattbnr, care to share your wealth of trucking knowledge to enlighten us instead? Maybe TTR could charge us bandwidth used to put a stop to these shenanigans. What say you?

Just tired of hearing truckers whine about the new rules. Truckers have to be the whiniest bunch of people I've ever met. Yes I'm a trucker but ####. You could give a trucker a gold bar and he'd complain it's too heavy to have to carry.
Wildblackyonder and Cranky Yankee Thank this. -
I'm not complaining. I just find it ironic that extedning my workday 2.5 hours a week is supposed to make me more rested. I'm home everyday on a dedicated run, so all it has done to me is make me get up earlier. It defies logic that someone would be at work longer and be more rested.

I think when they thought of the rule they were thinking more about us truckers who are out on the road on a daily basis, you know trucking. Gone for weeks at a time running 14 hours a day. Those guys. Not the day cab runners who go home everyday.

While my supertrucking days are far behind me, I still run about 2800-3000 a week and up to 3700 a week. I just don't need anyone telling me when I'm tired, as the one rule fits all doesn't apply to trucking. It would be like making it a law that politicians couldn't be morons, that they couldn't use family influence to get their positions, that they couldn't be a president of a company that benefitted from the laws they passed after they leave office, and here's a big one "Have experience in the area you oversee". Pipe dreams I know. Be careful out there "trucking".
HeWhoMustNotBeNamed Thanks this.
