I have a question for Matt Michigan and Chipster :
How far do you drive from home to the yard? Are there many crude yards within 30 min or less from Corpus or the Aransas area?

I drive 15 miles to where my truck is parked.
There are probably 1/2 dozen crude haulers within 30 minutes of my place.

    Ben Gunn Thanks this.

The humidity while I'm sleeping at night and it's 70 something degrees out is not the problem.

I moved from the middle of Dallas/Fort Worth to West Texas. I started out living in a small town, Monahans, about 1/2 hr west of Odessa and making that commute. Odessa is big enough especially when being so close to Midland too, it reminded me of DFW. The road signs say the population is 99K and 100+K for each city, but I would estimate it as being roughly double because most residents are not true residents and just work near there (try finding a hotel room or even a RV parking spot). The change wasn't too tough for me to make, but the 24hr convinces sometimes took it's toll. I soon found a home to buy located an hour south of Monahans in Fort Stockton. The oilfield housing boom prices haven't taken too much of a toll yet, it has a few 24 hour stores, and I quickly found a job here. It has a better community than both Monahans and Odessa, but the biggest plus to me is that we are close enough to the mountains to see. Alpine is an hour drive, so is Balmorea. I've lived quite a few years in Colorado off and on and although our mtns aren't snow capped, they'll do just fine. The weather is surprisingly fair. This year, we've froze in May, built full size snow men in....January I think, maybe it was February or March. I've been enjoying highs in the 60s and 70s the last couple of weeks while I hear on the news about New York and pretty much the rest of the U.S. in 100+ degree heat waves. I keep finding ways to laugh while thinking to myself how wrong my stereotypes of west Texas were.... even being a native Texan.

Chibob, superpet39 and Rodeorowdy Thank this.
