I am so new to the industry, here in Michigan I believe we have seasonal load restrictions in the spring however I was just curious as to why it appears that there are not many oversized loads being moved hardly at all anymore?
Maybe there not issuing as many permits or construction companies are breaking down large loads into loads that do not require pilot cars?
I still see a few pilot cars escorting large loads but not like I used to. A lot of loads I see going down the roads don't require an escort.
I know our roads are really bad but I am wondering if the pilot car industry is becoming absolete? The sources Ive checked with say the industry is growing however I am a bit skeptical in western Michigan.
Are escort/pilot vehicles becoming a thing of the past?

Majority of the Pilot / Trucker communicating about stupid crap on Ch.19 couldn't communicate with the driver ( hey driver, I'm coming around, Is it okay ? No answer )
Edit: Not sure how to fix the problem. Just seems the pilot vehicles rant about stupid crap and never helps. Personal Opinion.Projektf350 Thanks this. -
drivers r a dime a dozen. Good ones r a quarter a peice. I don't know s%*" about trucking but I heard a lot of remarks like that over the years.
Shaggy Thanks this. -
I've been seeing a lot of pilot/escorts lately. But then I've been seeing a lot of windmill blades on the move in IL and IA lately too. This and the other oversize boxes and things of that nature.
