I guess it depends on who manages the warranty. If they're like most other extended warranties, you will have to fight tooth and nail to get them to honor the warranty. And when they do, they will probably try and "repair" a transmission before they replace it and if they do, it will probably be a re-manufactured transmission that may or may not get you to the opposite coast. I'm not saying they aren't worth the money, I'm saying they like to take money but fight desperately to keep from paying out. (has been my experience) Extended warranties from large national dealers (like Paccar) are probably your safest bet

I'd recommend against the after market warrantees.

    here's the dealio:

The warent only pays out if the item brakes. the major items (engine, dif and trans) will show sign so failure long before they fail. Just get regular oil samples to see how the engine is doing. As a responcible owner you will get it repaired before it brakes and you get stuck some ware. In this case the warentee wont pay out. The warentee only pays out if you ignore signs of failure and wait for it to blow.

Mechanic inspection, dyno, and oil sample should be taken on any truck before you purchase it. Between those 3 you get a good idea of how well it was taken of.

Just read the details of the warranty - I bought a similar one once and it covered far fewer issues than i initially thought. Apparently a part that can wear out or is "wearable" isn't covered very similar to a clutch. Ask me how I know. I am not arguing for or against the warranty just make sure to not just take the sales guys word for it and actually look into it first.

We get our oil changed at Speedco and have a sample done at that time. Just and FYI... spend the money and flush the cooling system. Cheaper to do it at home or have them refill with water and buy AF somewhere else to replace it with.
