Im not gonna dog pile the poor CR England driver.
Those drivers must get put through the ringer.
I stopped and tried to help one out of a car parking
lot a few weeks back.I don't know what the heck he
    was thinking?
I guess were all one turn from disaster,
but if your gonna hit underground parking,at least
hit it with some steam.Do it with some style!!
Removal shouldn't be as easy as lowering tire pressure..
The DAC report should read how dificult it was to remove
this truck, and days of head scratching, and wreckers from several
    counties were involved.:biggrin_255:

In the areas I have driven in the rural upper midwest, it was fairly safe to park on the on-ramp to a 4 lane highway. Some places had signs saying no parking, yet there was enough gravel on the shoulder to park the truck and it was well used. An on-ramp means the cars coming past you will most likely be going slow, as they had to just turn onto the ramp. I looked for isolated areas and would pull in behind another truck if I saw one on the ramp, if it was a cow truck, I would stay back a ways. No noise to speak of....some of the best places to park. Can find one every 5 or 6 miles. Pull in late, after sunset, and be on my way at sunrise.

If a local officer knocks on your door, just tell them you were dozing off and needed to pull over for a nap....safety first!!! Or your hours were up and you had to pull over to comply with the HOS....safety first!!!

Has anyone gotten a ticket for parking on an on-ramp?

Dont wait till the last minute to park it. If you do, youre going to have the problem of running out of hours. Trip plan every day. If you have to shut down after 6 hours because there isn't another spot in 460 miles, then shut down and play it safe.

That being said, TS's aren't the only safe haven. You can shut down at rest areas, scale houses that allow parking (most do), customers that allow parking, and truck friendly hotels.

In regards to extra places to park it depends If your near a walmart they will usually allow you to park on the outer edges of there lots 27/7 or a lot of times if you see a large lot and have no options maybe just go and ask the owner if the bussiness is open and in some states I will pull off on a off ramp and park on the freeway entrance side but some troopers can be jerks about that and some dont care
