What do you the "other" 14 hours a day?

The way I see it, the longer I'm on the road the less I have to pay in rent, utilities, cable, etc. Even if you're not making big money, you're also not spending big money. I might be wrong, I don't have the experience to say otherwise, but I personally wouldn't have a problem with long term otr.

I don't mind it, I don't like being in big crowds or anything. I don't like going out and seeing the country, I'm just fine with seeing it from a windshield. That's enough for me. I don't need to go out and take pictures and stuff. Ill stop every now and then and take a pic of my truck with mountains and stuff in the background but that's about it. I take more pics of my truck than anything lol

I will agree that SOME companies don't pay jack. My first company I started with was that way, I thought I was making good money until I came to the OTR company I'm with now. Here I make double what I made at my first OTR company and here I make just over double what I made when I was local.

In a few years if I'm able to work my way to the top pay scale then the guys that are at the top at this company are making extremely good money. They get paid 4 ways, right now I just get paid mileage plus accessorial.

I agree big time here! I polish the chrome and stuff on my truck, and also buy the good rain-x wiper blades and all that car care stuff from auto zone or advance auto parts. Buying it from a truck stop is WAY too expensive

I spend most of my money on a car I get to drive once a month or so lol. $800/month I could be putting in the bank saving up for my own rig now that I'm back OTR.

I also don't have a refrigerator in my truck, so I eat out all the time

That would be my biggest problem, I like to eat junk. Denny's breakfast and fast food would do me in (either go broke or heart attack lol).

 

Haha I hear that. I'm a sucker for the breakfast buffet at iron skillet. All you can eat French roast and bacon, I eat there then I need an IV, shot of insulin, and go to sleep for a few hours lol
