I come from mountain country, so most grades don't get a rise out of me. But...

It's the one you're on right now... icy/snowpacked, conditions getting crummy fast, and you're on the hot seat. That's the worst one. Today it might be Wolf Creek. Tomorrow it might be some crummy little 4% slope with a hairpin curve about 1/2 mile in front of you on snowpack and you're going too #### fast.

Low gears and Engine brake. Im not in a hurry to die. lol The only thing that scares me is other fools. Beyond that, blizzard snow and ice...ehhhh nope! won't do it. Won't try it. Nope, not on steep grades.

Just rereading this, the one pass that's missing and no one mentioned, US 550 Red Mountain, Coal Bank and Molass Passes. The million dollar highway, it'll separate the truck drivers from the steering wheel holders in the winter.

I believe that 666 into Colorado from New Mexico is rough, I was pulling a 48 ft. Reefer going north and could barely make it around the curves. And at that time I was running a cabover

I think ALL downhill grades are equally dangerous when not respected. If a driver respects a downhill grade there is no reason for it to be dangerous.

Most people won't know them. They are pot holed dirt roads that you inch down after a fresh snow. There maybe a county plow sitting in your chain up area calling you a ######### because you just drove by, like you are going to stop in the middle of the road to chain up because said plow driver is just sitting in the chain up area....

Plow Driver gets exited and radios the "shack" that some ##### is going down the pass without chains. :D

An hour later you see a DOT truck with the driver giving you a thumbs up and grabbing the radio to tell everyone that things are ok with a huge Cheshire smile that you didn't give him "a bad day".
