I applied to Maverick and got the first phone call from the recruiter. Here's hoping I get to head to NLR for the training soon! Anyway my question is about how long, after you get done with the flatbed training, does it usually take for you to get hooked up with your trainer? The only experience I've had was the(thankfully brief) time I was with PAM and waited a week for my trainer to come and get me from the PAM hotel. I don't really mind waiting, but I am rather curious.

Typically for flatbed its pretty quick. I know that you'll already be assigned a trainer before the last orientation class, which Maverick lovingly calls "Crossing the Bridge". During this class you'll find out who your trainer is and where they live. Typically, that trainer will call you pretty quick and give you an ETA. Most of the time, it's usually only a day or two, sometimes 3. And sometimes your trainer will already be there at the terminal before you even enter the class. They plan ahead ad start working your trainer towards NLR before your done with orientation.

    Flareblitz Thanks this.

Meant to also ask, do they run the truck as a team during training?

No, team driving at Maverick is against company policy, for the most part.

It's one of the reasons I chose Maverick, I quit USA Truck because I can't stand team driving.

There was a couple of times that me and my trainer did kind of team drive, because the load was really tight and something went wrong (breakdowns and such) but we weren't forced or asked to do it, we just did it because it allowed us to get it there on time. And it wasn't true team driving, we were both awake, I just drove until I ran out of hours and then he drove the last 3 or so to get it there.

All my forms on the website say they've been returned so now I'm just waiting on approval. Fingers crossed!

I'm from Crawfordsville, IN and all my forms should be in today or tomorrow, maybe we'll be in orientation together.
