Rodeo, if you can shoe horses you can frac. At 49 it would be tough though. The problems that the older guys usually have our injuries. I'm 27 so when I strain my back or twist an ankle all I have to do is favor it for a few days or a week and I'm good to go. The older guys get a small injury like that and it just won't heal and continues to get worse. You have to take into account the lack of sleep poor nutrition, the heat, and the steady work (which usually isn't hard there's just always something to do). I see some older guys and they usually do well if they try to be careful and not get hurt. Another problem is most companies aren't interested in movin the older guys up as much as the young guys. Most of the supervisors in the field will be in their late twenties and early thirties. Why would you invest tens of thousands of dollar in training into someone who's at the end of their career.
Rodeorowdy Thanks this. -
Sad but true i have friend who had good career in the oilfields for years. But now at 63 he is spent, can predict the weather with his body and has so much metal in his body from injuries that he sets off metal detectors at the airport

I am 55 and haul crude. Not a physically demanding job, one just has to work smart....
Now a frac crew, wire line crew, flow back crew, I doubt I could handle that work for very long. -
Try Nabors. They'll hire in certain areas (west Texas for sure and possibly others) drivers with zero experience.

P.S. the issue you need to be concerned with in the Midland/ Odessa area is finding housing.
