Was reading razors blog type thread about orientation and such and he said they were automatics. Are all the trucks automatics? I don't really mind. I'm good at shifting....well, upshifting anyway. Downshifting gives me fits sometimes.
Guess I'm concerned because...I've never driven or even rode in an automatic truck before. Is it just like a car where its just the gas and brake? How does that work with downhill grades under load since you can't ride the brakes the whole way down.
Automatics?

yes the whole fleet is autos. just fuel and brake. as far as mountain driving they have a manual switch where ya can up/down shift yourself, really only have to do that on big mountains such as black, and eagle mountains. I love them my left leg dont hurt in traffic anymore and my left legs not as big now!

Wow nice! Autos are probably great for city driving. Thanks for the info.
-
They are auto shifters

the autos r really nice in heavy traffic. like mentioned above u can put them in manual n downshift when going down a steep grade
-
I drive mine in manual 100% of the time. I have never driven it in auto. Never.
Blind Dog Thanks this. -
Sorry to ask a really dumb question. But are they hard to operate. I am so used to double clutching and shifting. That if given a check ride I would screw up and be with a trainer until that left leg quit jumping and my right arm grabbing air.

Can you drive an automatic car? Pretty much the same.
-
It's that easy, huh. How do you get over wanting to shift. Just time I imagine, it just seems alien. Big trucks are supposed to be shifted. Do the people giving check rides understand or not?

Good luck.
