Automatics?

yes the whole fleet is autos. just fuel and brake. as far as mountain driving they have a manual switch where ya can up/down shift yourself, really only have to do that on big mountains such as black, and eagle mountains. I love them my left leg dont hurt in traffic anymore and my left legs not as big now!

 

They are auto shifters

 

the autos r really nice in heavy traffic. like mentioned above u can put them in manual n downshift when going down a steep grade

 

I drive mine in manual 100% of the time. I have never driven it in auto. Never.

 

Sorry to ask a really dumb question. But are they hard to operate. I am so used to double clutching and shifting. That if given a check ride I would screw up and be with a trainer until that left leg quit jumping and my right arm grabbing air.

 

Can you drive an automatic car? Pretty much the same.

 

It's that easy, huh. How do you get over wanting to shift. Just time I imagine, it just seems alien. Big trucks are supposed to be shifted. Do the people giving check rides understand or not?

 

Looking at the faces on the Maverick website, you're seeing guys who've driven lots of different transmissions including Brownies, Triplex's, Spicer 4x4s, and Roadrangers; don't worry, they get it. Assume that the instructors giving check rides have more seat time giving those check rides than you have "double clutching and shifting." I'd be more concerned about what's needed to pass the test than whether the instructor had ever come across someone coming out of CDL school who'd never seen an automatic manual transmission in a Large Car.
