Something like that happened to me at the scale on I-77 S in Bland VA. Checked my log book, said it was impeccable, then the truck. Said the antilock brake light on the trailer wasn't working properly and I had a marker light on the rear not working. After he wrote his report I checked and everything was working. I didn't go back inside to confront him. No fine, only a write- up on the inspection report. This was before CSA.

true. by the way, i had a similar inspection once. got put out of service, till fixed (so, spent a couple hours by scales). just like in truckman's case - no tickets issued. basically, the truck broke down right in front of dot inspector as he was inspecting it. so, he understood. a serious breakdown, not a light bulb. all was reflected on the report and caused me not one point. best was to ask that inspector, in my opinion. but since he didn't ask, just wait for now and see. normally broken lights cause quite a few points, but who knows...my issue was waaaay deeper then lights, yet no points

The inspection report needs to go to your carrier and they will sign off on it, not you.
Keep a copy of it for your records, do not send it to your company without you keeping a copy.
The log violation is something you need to watch, don't be in a hurry.
The light thing you can't help but the light has to be replaced, not just the bulb. -
I own the carrier, i own the truck and trailer, my own authority and dot's. The light bulb was defective, it seperated from the copper butt. Anyways i feel i didnt do too bad. I bet he was dissapointed when he crawled under to find everything in perfect condition, new chambers, hoses, shoes, brake spiders, lol he had to tag me on something i think, disntwanna go back to the house looking like an ###
