I'm coming from Greensboro. My date is still up in the air. Anyway, I called and spoke with a recruiter yesterday. She specifically informed me to get the permit taken care if before coming to Springmo. NC is one of those states that will make you take all the testing again and if you so end up waiting and getting it in MO you will actually end up paying for the while thing twice.
If you haven't called them yet I highly recommend it. They are extremely helpful and she took time to answer all of my questions.
Hope this helps. Good luck to you.
~Charnewbietrucker007 Thanks this. -
@charlami : always feel great to talk to a fellow tarheel!! Why do nc got to be the #### odd ball state?!
I truly didn't know that I was going to go that route so when I'm ready ima heading off to springmo ahead of the game.
Prime to me is an awesome Place to start to learn to grow with.
So anixous to call them ..Charlami Thanks this. -
@Newbie
Kind of a Tarheel. I'm a transplant actually. I moved here from Wheeling, WV, 5 years ago. I guess at some point I will need to adopt the place. I can't claim to be a Mountaineer forever.
I'm pretty excited myself. My husband is having surgery in August so we are thinking 8 weeks recovery and I will be able to put in my notice and get started. We would like to both go together but feel it would be better if I go first and get settled/established and then when we are back to financial stability he will quit and head out too. After his training we will team.
I have been putting things together for when I get my own truck. Food plan, recipes modified for my little walmart crockpot, eating implements, little tupperware shakers for spices, laptop, bedding, picked up a case if baby wipes from a salvage auction super cheap. I put these things separate from the house stuff and keep a list so that when I get home time I know what I will have to stock.
I don't think I have enough posts to PM yet but I will one day. Add me to your friends and we can keep each other posted.
Some nights I'm so excited I can't sleep. Right now is a good example. I gotta be up at 6 -
@char : yea Carolina is a great place to live to be a person. Even though it may not have a lot its still home ..
I'm pray your hubby get better and everything goes well for u.
Also glad that u chosen prime inc and trucking as your new career! -
My husband's recruiter said nothing about having to take all the testing over again. We too live in NC. I am not sure about that. If he has to do it again then he does, but I am just saying the recruiter said nothing like that at all. I am going to research it and find out for sure. Thanks for the heads up though, if he does have to do it twice.

Yeah look into it. Last I heard it was IL, and Mass. for sure were the pain in the butt states. However, the students in those states dont necessarily take the test twice. They're instructor would take them to the state and have them tested rather than in Springfield.
At least as it was explained to instructors who were on file willing to take students from any location rather than just students relatively closer to the instructors home.
I heard a rumor about CA, but Im not sure about that.
Things change all the time, so dont take my word as fact123456 Thanks this. -
From the info I gathered, all he would have to do was the vision test and have his CDL license and they would transfer it.
