took these pictures at the flying j in Minot (formally bhems truck stop)

he drove his trailer into the ditch on a nice wide turn then it looks like he unhooked his trailer maybe in a attempt to get it out

Lucky it didn't roll. Just goes to show ya that you can never be to careful when watching your mirrors. I'd hate to be in his shoes at the moment.

With all that room I wonder why he didn't cut it wider?

Maybe was a student with trainer sleeping,...Maybe the intersection was not lit and it was raining heavily,...Maybe the driver was actually an idiot, maybe not,..You never know,...I think tho, If I saw my trailer leaning that far over, for whatever reason, and perhaps on soft ground,I would have disconnected as fast as humanly possible too,...to save the tractor. Trailers are much cheaper to fix after a roll. At worst, now only the trailer needs dealing with by a single wrecker. Most of the time, when the truck goes too, quite often 2-wreckers are needed to upright it.

Many people see things like this and just pass it off as a stupid manuver. Without details of what actually happened, I try not to pass jugement. The second picture reveals that the trailer is also not very far from the pavement either. A rookie driver could have easily mistaken the gravel area as being safe and turned sharper to get around another truck comming out. it is in fact well clear of the darker, grassy area.

It is a cool pic nonetheless.

That turn is so wide why? I have been at that truckstop many a times. That is just baffling.

conditions where the same as when i took the pic, i came in the truck stop and he wasn't there but he was when i was leaving less than 30 mins later.

i have no idea why he cut it so sharp plenty of room there even if a truck was coming out.

as long as his tractor was at a similar angle to the trailer as it is now chance of rollover would have been less than with the tractor unhooked. plus if he would have stayed hooked up to it they could have probably just pulled him backwards now they need to lift the front of the trailer to pull it out.
