Funny I'm in the same boat. Are you going to orientation on Monday? LS has a public load board for O/O with their own authority. You can search on that for loads nearby. The good news is, that load board is pretty much the board of loads that O/O for land star reject, so that freight will be at least that good.

no im not going to orientation yet still waiting on them to do all my paper work

Landstar Loads..Mercer drivers make the same amount Landstar drivers make and Mercer doesn't require hazmat.
I am not recommending Mercer but Landstar PaperWork is a mess. If you go with Landstar, have two attorneys read the contract, let them argue about it because you will pay them down the road if not now. Then take their advice that no sane person would sign that contract all about what you have to do to protect Landstar and everything Landstar is doing to protect themselves while hanging you out to dry...
Next hire an entire office to double check all of their paperwork.
Then look into getting your own authority..because Landstar's paperwork is a mess..and that is what you pay them for...
Save the percentage..get your own authority or go with another company..the New Landstar is not the Old Landstar..which was a fairly good outfit -
We are happy at Landstar. We come and go from Dallas a lot.OK is OK too.

I must be at a different LS. My six year old could manage what little paper work I have to worry about at the LS Im with. As far as my own authority now thats funny, please tell me why would I want that nightmare? If a BCO cant make a living on whats left after LS takes thier cut they really need to be rethinking thier business model. Better yet they would probably just be better of as a company driver.Dewey120 and drvrtech77 Thank this.

well apparently you counldnt make the cut here at LANDSTAR, the paper work isn't that bad and most of its done on the computer.
While Ill admit getting to the signing point is a pain in the BUTT ( all "T" and "I" crossed) and following making sure that everything is done on the check list, But when that's all done and over its more than worth the effort!
As far as your own Authority HELL NO! put up with that nightmare its not worth the headache!
GOOD LUCK TO YALL AND BE PAITENT, ITS WORTH THE WAITrussellkanning, drvrtech77 and Desert_Skies Thank this. -
If you didn't cross your T's and dot your I's....you will be be in this thread 3months from now saying you are still waiting LOL
Desert_Skies Thanks this. -
Landstar is definitely what you make of it, which I enjoy. Nobody breathing down your back and your free to go wherever you want. I finally got my two month plate and plate renewal paid off so that makes my settlements look a little better.
Desert_Skies and dogcatcher Thank this.
