So 'm looking to make a transition from driving a Wrecker to going long-haul. I want to make sure I am getting good mileage and the sales guy I've been talking to is trying to tell me that I can get 7.5 mpg with a KW. I used to having 4-5 mpg so I'm not realy buying it. Im also not a big fan of the "bubble" look. I would prefer traditional styling with good mileage. Any tips or opinions on the new "aero" trucks?

I thought about one till I test drove it t-660 kind of rough riding and just...no hood!As for mileage try cummings or detroit motor my kitty only gets 7.5 if I am bob tailing and not gassing on it.Tell you something those not sure about all of them but those t-660s turn on a dime(compared to my w-900 atleast) also heard volvos were good if you could stand the looks of them

Which t660, did u test drive,n rough ride, try studio sleeper with ag 400 and wheelbase have to be 255-270, than u tell me is rough ride.i have t660 ,and ride smooth, maybe u were trying company standard t660

The salesman told u ,u can get 7.5 a gallon,he's right but u have to run it around 64-65 mph,I run mine at 74-80 mph,I get 6.3 to 6.5. I have 525 hp and 18 spd with 3.36 rear

Truth is, you will get about 1 extra mpg on an aero truck for same weight, speed etc vs a box or "classic look".
wstar2003 Thanks this. -
My Cascadia (DD15) has been averaging 8.4 MPG, at 60 MPH, except for the week I had to drag a heavy load of beer up Donner. It also has an excellent ride, a lot better than a Volvo. There is a reason why all the big fleets buy them.

Any of the aero trucks will get fuel mileage if driven right. Just depends on your personal preference. If you are out here strictly to operate a business, you can't justify anything but an aero truck. The fuel mileage difference is too much to ignore. I have run a W9 and a T600 same specs on exactly the same route with the same load and the difference is right about 1 mpg. There is no other answer for it but aerodynamics and fuel mileage = money in pocket.
Twicebit Thanks this. -
the big fleet drive the Cascadia, the freightliner is cheaper then other brands

I beg to differ. My 780 rides waaay better then the cascadia. And big companies run them for a certain reason. Mainly England they own I believe half of freightliner

the Volvo is much better , in quality
