Really excited to come down and get started towards a new career driving. After nearly a decade at my current job i am ready for a change. The recruiter i was assigned was really great to work with and after spending a month reading posts on this forum it was a quick process to get thru. Got the call this morning telling me that i have been accepted and start on the 20th of next month. I put down i want to learn tankers whats the chances i will actually be sent to that division after i obtain my cdl.

Congrats! I am in a similar boat, changing careers. I will be there on Tuesday. Maybe I will start a thread about my experience. Good luck.

Good luck to the two of you. My husband in orientation right now. He said that the first day is very hectic and make sure you are 100% honest about EVERYTHING. They have all of your information anyways, background, employment, driving records, so be honest. Also he said that it would be a good idea to obtain your CDL permit before coming because if not you will have to take the permit test on Wednesday morning which could put you behind a little bit. And be sure you get all your CBTs done as quickly as possible. I am sure if you have read through this forum you have seen those posted by others as well.

Beprepared to rewrite your job application to paperform too. I believe you do PSD with the reefer side till you get your CDL. After that your TNT phase should be with tanker division.

Ok so I have a question about my permit. What tests should I take? I know the general air brakes and combination but should I take the tanker double/ triple and hazmat as well or are those even able to be taken during the permit phase? Sorry if this has been asked before.

A little heads up for some... Texas will not recognize background checks done out of state... so the other 49 states return the favor, if you happen to be from TX. That complicates things for those folks. -
Well it's almost here talked to my recruiter and confirmed that I will be driving down Monday afternoon. Have my permit test done just have the paper hard copy hasn't arrived yet. Just missing the med card to make it valid. Spending the weekend packing clothes and hanging with family before I start this new adventure. Anyone else start this week?

Day two is over got all my comp and sim work done and got hooked up with an instructor today. Just waiting on my dr office to fax papers over about med I take but the dot dr said It shouldn't be an issue they just didn't really know what it exactly was.

After a med card issue clear up I got my student card and am heading out on the road tomorrow. The campus inn is nice and all but I'm ready to get out of here and get on my 100 hours.
ironpony Thanks this.
