I think thats awesome t_wilson. I been in trucking all my life too--my father was a trucker but i can tell you my mom had no clue when it came to his logs. And you know back in the day--most their logs were made up anyways! :biggrin_2559: Logs are pretty easy to comprehende but its also easy to mess up. The split breakin is what always confused me so i try to never do that! :biggrin_25525:

I never ran split break when I drove, even when I was teaming. We did the full driving time on and the full sleeper time off. I don't even have a clue how to do it. I was going to look at it in hubby's big book that he got from orientation, about how they do the logs so I could try to understand it, but never got to it. And that's sad too, because I like to learn things, just for the sake of learning them if it's something I'm curious about. Had other things to do, like laundry, bring in firewood, and all the other domestic things. And time on the playground while baby was napping. Hehe!!!:biggrin_255: That was the fun part.

I like simple things--i dont like to complicate it. So normally i try to run 9-10 a day. I dont like to overdo it and most of the times i was early anyways so i would just run the 11 straight most the time. I never even tried to split break--too complicated for this redneck. :biggrin_2559:

as far as celadon is cincerned, i drove for them for 2 years and 7 months, i witnessed as this excellent company turned into straight crap, starting out pay was 32 cents a mile with a half cent raise every 60k miles, 6 months after being hired they froze all raises, so, i drove teh remaining time at .325 cents. then that wonderful 1000 dollar bonus every 30k miles dropped to 600, and shortly thereafter it dropped yet again to 300.
yes they have decent equipment and for the most part will treat you like an adult and will also get you home on time when ever you request it with only 7 days notice. i started out loving celadon with all my heart and over the two and a half year period i drove for them it dwindled down to a hurtful distrust.

they have decent blue cross blue shield insurance, i paid my insurance dues weekly, but i never received insurance cards, so, my first born child ended up being born on peach care in georgia.

when i put my notice in that i was quitting, my DM was sad to see me go, being the good runner i was, on time every time and always legal, i worked 3 last days out of home time routed to the indianapolis terminal, turning the truck in was easy, they wanted their keys, their issued security locks and my company ID card. they then bought and paid for my bus ticket home.

thanks for listening, hope you guys make an informed decision.
