I wish I had a policy issued by OOIDA or had leased with Mercer who actually requires Workmans Comp. I have medical insurance.
I am saying Landstars policies are not worth the paper they are written on

Why in the heck would you think you're entitled to something you never payed in to? Since LS is not your employer why would they be responsible for anything. Do us all a favor and go drive a company truck, as you obviously can't run a business.
-
I PAID FOR CPP.and the Contract states I should have been on and paying for Workmans Comp (Landstar says "Oh, so sorry, we made a mistake in our paperwork but we can't be expected to enforce our contract or verify our information or correct a mistake)
I paid into Landstar CPP program. I paid taxes and ran a business for 15 years.
Now..since I paid taxes, I am entitled to the Dole..but why should I have paid for CPP and now Landstar dumps me on Your Dime..You are going to pay taxes to take care of their "mistakes."
As for running a business, I was successful for 15 years..How much do you think I paid Landstar all those years..record breaking profits by breaking driver backs! -
You guys think you are covered..So did I..and yet I am going on the Dole...I paid for CPP..and it didn't pay..
I am warning you..I paid for CPP..
You better read the fine print..
And why pay for CPP? Why not just go on the Dole and not give Landstar a cover..Why limit their liability with something that is not even a match for SSI and foodstamps?
That is all CPP does is Limit Landstars Liability because they provided you with "coverage." -
Wow, were not lawyers, doctors, nurses. Were Truckers. We get hurt. We get fixed, & drive on. If you can't do that, some fast food joint is looking for loosers.
SHC Thanks this. -

I wish..everything were fixable or that a person could work no matter what..even in a fast food joint or walmart greeter but...
I am just saying..Don't get down because...you will get kicked in the face even by the drivers on this forum and especially by the Companies..use you up and spit you out
And your CPP is expensive toilet paper..
It can happen to you..You think it won't or it can't but it can.
I was going to keep trucking till the day I died..never going to quit..

After 15 years of paying Landstar for CPP for my wife and myself, we are going to be living on about $1000 a month and food stamps..all government money.
The State will pay all medical cost because we can't afford insurance.
That is what you get from the Landstar Protection Plan.
Yes, I am still disabled..The benefits end at a set time whether you are crippled or not.
Some of those CPP require that an injured driver be collecting SSDI so the benefits can be reduced by that amount..thereby dumping the driver onto SSDI and saving the CCP provider money.. -
Wow, driver I hope you and your family will be alright...!!!
-
Thank mimrbre
I am not looking for sympathy
What I want to say is
Those CPP policies have:
Set time limits
Set Amount limits
Set conditions
All in the fine print..and my policy changed. I had a copy of the original and it was fairly generous..but every year I received a new policy...and the print was finer and finer, the language more convoluted so when I had to collect, there weren't any benefits..because of all the limits..and conditions
And because I signed the contract, I accepted the terms ...Landstar and the insurance company are totally off the hook.
Some of those CPP policies Required that an injured driver get SSDI or lose CPP benefits
If you sign the Contract, you are issued a policy or you Must Request Workmans Comp. CPP is a scam..so get a good workmans comp policy or tell Landstar you don't want any policy..Tell Landstar if you get hurt you will go on the dole directly but Landstar won't allow that because..they could be liable..That policy protects Landstar -
I'm not sure that's even possible these days.....in California you can purchase a supplemental disability policy for self employed people directly from the State even though you are not required to carry workmens comp as a one man shop. This is what I have done.......with very few exceptions this whole industry is run by a bunch of ####heels any more and I can't wait to get out.......just trying to hang on till 65.landstar8891 Thanks this.
