Hey guys I can't start school till January so I am stuck doing a lot of research until then. I'll be moving back to Nevada before I start driving and Pumpkin has a job listed in my area that has me really intruiged. I don't want to bother a recruiter yet so can anyone give me any details? I'm some one who will take less money to be home more. ( 8yo Autistic son) To me this sounds like a perfect job for me almost too good to be true. It doesn't mention slip seating (other ad's do) or being dedicated, but can you really make money setting home a week and they don't give your truck away?

This Regional truck driver position features up to $0.36 per mile* and a predictable work schedule. Travel area is throughout the 11 western states and Texas. You will be out two weeks and home one week averaging 2000 to 2500 miles a week.

    Eligible Applicants

    • Experienced truck drivers
    • Recent truck driving school graduates
    Pay & Benefits
Full-time CDL truck drivers are eligible for:

    • Mileage and accessorial pay plus potential $0.02/mile performance bonuses

    • Paid vacation
    • Medical, dental and vision insurance

They just posted another one one week out one week home. How you make any money? Can you run more if you want?

Sounds like one of those dedicated/logistics accounts; maybe Target in Henderson/Las Vegas or something like that. Seems like it would be worth more research; sounds good for a family man.

I didn't want to bother a recruiter since I was this far out but I guess that's their job to answer questions. So I may end up calling one.

Other ads mention if they are dedicated this one doesn't what has me so stumped LOL.

more than likely your truck will not be sitting. 2 weeks 1 week sounds like you will share 2 trucks with 2 other drivers.

That one week on one week off, probably won't have any benefits package, plus you'll qualify for food stamps and welfare.

Thats what I thought but other ads specifically mention if it's slip seating. Oddly the ones that mention it have less home time then this one LOL

no matter how it's advertised. bottom line is it won't be a good deal for you. unless you don't mind swapping trucks. and only working part time.

and it'll be worse if you or someone else is one of them drivers that break down a lot.

You have plenty of time. Just keep checking the company specific job pages. You'll get an idea of how often they come up( which could clue you in on how it is) , and dedicated may be the way to go for you.

My area IS a lot denser in terms of cities/population, but the pay is very good on this particular account and I'm home 95% of the time. AND I have an assigned truck.

BTW I worked a 6on 3 off that was a 3 driver 2 truck system. It didn't advertise that way, Just something to think about.

6 on 3 off slip seat is another job they have posted I was looking at as well how you like it? Is it a pain to haul your stuff in out? I imagine for 6 days you wouldn't need a lot of extras like TV ect. It's not a day cab is it?

Honestly the area I'm moving to has such a low cost of living 36K a year (take home) would be plenty for me in exchange for getting that much time home.

Thanks for the info very helpful.
