Alan Ritchey hauls water and crude down in that area and they will hire you right out of school. They offer one of the best pay packages and training for a new driver, so I've heard. As far as the welding..when I worked at Halliburton, there were a couple welders at our yard I talked to and they both said they loved it and made GREAT money. Lots of overtime and yard work, but also got lots of calls to drive out to location and fix some of our equipment. I used to love when we would have to shut down because the blender was leaking..and we'd have to wait 2-3 hours for the welder to drive out to fix it![]()

Chinatown Thanks this.

well, this is post number 5, only 2 more and I can PM the person I need to PM. I will be attending Sage next May when my contract is complete here in Thailand. I wish I could pay in advance because I know it will be more expensive than now. Oh well.

Apply to some of the pipeline construction companies down here. They pay like crazy for welders! No sense going in debt for CDL school when you already have valuable experience in the welding trade.
Some companies to google are:
Troy construction
U.S. Pipeline
Enbridge
Enterprise
There's a few to start with, it's not uncommon for a certified pipeline welder to gross over $5k a week. -
Swift School in San Antonio...Pretty good School, but bad company to work for...

I worked for Swift for 7 yrs and never had a problem with them. I was hauling cars for them, home everyday and making $75k a year. They have since sold that division but they have several accounts that can give you the same thing. It's all in what you make it!
