Agreed. Most companies will force a refresher course if you haven't had any experience recently and let the CDL lapse.

As a brand new driver, you would be looking at a B seat entry anyhow- about a month or two worth of trainee miles with a trainer.

That being the case, when accepted, pack light. You want to try to leave a minimal footprint in your trainer's truck.

Inexperienced CDL holders come in as a C-seat, and have the full 40k to run with a trainer.

our company began buying the right fender mirrors a long time ago.
hate getting in a truck with no right fender mirror.
as far keeping in my lane.
like they said in driving school about looking far as you can down the road at the center of your lane really works.
as someone who gets on lots of narrow bridges at highway speed many times with gas tankers and school buses i hate to be crowded by someone checking their mirror.
looking far down the road works

Simplespeed double check that with your fleet manager I am only doing 30k. Some trainers will keep you as long as possible to earn an extra buck.

Yea I will. Im sure he just wants to make a few more bucks. Hes a real cool guy though and I dont want him to think that I think hes using me. Hes been awesome this past week. Hell, he bought me a blue parrot headset in the prime store before we even left. He lets me sleep on his bed, control the radio when I drive. Bought an extra dvd player so we each have one when waiting at shipper recievers. Great guy so far, and we live in the same town so thats a big plus for our home time.

was with prime for 2 months and couldnt deal with the bs, was being forced to stay out for 6 to 8 weeks before i could go home for home time, and on top of that i had to be home for my sons surgery on on specific day and instead of them getting me a load towards my home they take me the wrong way then get stuck at the receiver for 13 hours, thankfully i was on the truck with aanother driver and i got off the truck and got on to another truck to get home. now all is well with the boy and have a new job where im home twice a week and making 3x the money that prime could ever pay me. my advise if you have a family and want to see them stay away from prime

There seem to be two distinct types of posters about Prime, those with experience who switched to them and those with very little experience. Not to knock lack of experience per se but those inexperienced poster's comments will be more highly negative or more highly positive because it's all they know.

That said, JimmyBones, I hope you're still enjoying Prime. Thanks for the blog.
