    Hello C U R R E N T Werner Drivers,

PLEASE, FORMER UNHAPPY WERNER DRIVERS WITH "AXES TO GRIND" SAVE YOUR COMMENTS FOR ANOTHER TIME. I NEED HONEST ADVICE FROM CURRENT WERNER DRIVERS. THANKS.

As a new driver with less than great MVR, thinking of going with Werner out of CDL school.

Recruiter made some strong selling points for Werner like good training, good equipment, variety of divisions to run, plenty of loads, lots of drop & hook. new driver support etc.

Please give me an honest evaluation of how Werner is overall as a company to work for.

I realize some days are better than others and yes I will have to do my part and work. Haviing said that , if I do my part and honestly try to learn and make the most of this career, will Werner stand by me as a totally new driver?

Does Werner give new drivers genuine support and miles?
Paperless logs/qualcom easy to figure out for a new driver?
Werner allow GPS system. Is it really needed?
Live in Atl. Ga. area. Dedicated opportunity available? (recruiter says yes)

Any constructive, helpful advice is appreciated.

Since everyone who had anything to say about Werner has already done so in previous postings, why don't you do a search on this truckers forum and others? You'll find more information than you can stomach, and it will all be "constructive" -- that is, if you want to avoid problems. Or isn't that sufficiently "constructive" for you? Closed mind? You'll eventually find out more than you really want to know, I guess.

    Cabhappy,

    "Hello C U R R E N T Werner Drivers", was the thread.

    Do you drive for Werner?

By the way I have searched this and other sites about Werner,

I think you will agree that anyone and everyone has an opinion. If you take to heart everything said on these forums, you would never work for any carrier.

My mind is wide open to hear an up to date honest report from current Werner drivers.

    Thanks again.

To give you my honest opinion Werner has been the worst company i have ever worked for! I just got my cdl 4months ago and was sold by a recruiter to go with Werner. I at first loved the fact of not having the written log books but what i found out is that the computer log books cheat you out of miles and time. The log books have a mind of their own and can place you on different duty status's when it feels like. I have also had countless problems on my checks. Right now i am finally finished with my training but am still waiting to be assigned a truck. Yes training took me 4 months and you manager will keep you with your trainer as long as possible. I am not one to compalin about a company but this company just goes out of their way to make it hard for you. I had two trainers while being out and both of them have quit because of all the dispatching problems. My trainer and i literally sat for 3 days waiting for a load, and we have not idea why. The dispatch never answers the messages and when they do they never answer your questions. They also wont pay you for the miles you drive from one location to another. Werner is always trying to cut corners and short their drivers any way they can. And the only reason i am staying with them untill now is if i quit no good company will hire me because i will have a short work history with my first company and it makes me look like i cant stay with one company for too long. SO i am stuck but i would love to help others not make the mistake that i made. I really believe that even swift is better because they pay more and have a better training program from the drivers that i have spoken too. Also werner sucks because you have to pick up and drop off chains when your driving through the mountains. They dont even give you chains for the truck and its a big hassle to look for only a specific truck stop to get chains for your truck and then you better return them back when your done or else you will be in violation. I think that speaks for itself when it comes to whether or not they give you good equipment.

    gabe5257,

    Thanks for your honsety.

Sorry to hear things are'nt going well for you. I'm hoping your situation is isolated. Know it does'nt make you feel any better though.

Has your Student Driver Manger/Fleet Manager been able to help you with any of the problems you mentioned?

Any explanation on why it took 4 months to get 275 drive hours in for training? No miles or frieght? What area were you running?
What type of dispatch problems were you having?
Why the big wait on your own truck?
Werner really won't issue you a set of chains for your truck?
Was your trainer(s) really helpful or a joke?
Did you preform OK with your trainer?
How have they cheated you on pay?

I hope things start to go your way soon.
I will definately re consider Werner for sure.

    Hang in there.

tichdaddy, gabe5257 gave you an honest portrayal of the Werner experience. I know ex-Werner drivers. Everything that gabe5257 has mentioned I have heard before. I also know a few drivers who do not have a lot of complaints (based in Atlanta). Its sounds to me like you are looking for a certain answer. You want to hear how great this company is. Well tichdaddy, it is what it is. gabe5257 is not an isolated incident. Sure, you can find someone to speak negative about any company. Have you realized though that the same companies have the majority of complaints?
I urge you to have an open mind. Its seems that you are a little defensive when it comes to receiving answers that you really don't want hear.

    XXDarth & others,

Appologies if I came across defensive, but I am about to make a decision that will affect not only my life, but my families as well.

Honestly I am stressing over making the right choice of the carrriers that will hire me.

Due to a less than perfect MVR my choices are diminished to a handful of carriers, including Werner.Others are Covenant, Swift, and Central Refer.

I am trying to keep an open mind about Werner in that everything their recruiter said seems to make sense to me. But hey what do I know, I am new to this industry so sites like this are really helpful.

Yes, I see the big picture. There will always be someone out there with negative comments about every carrier from A-Z, and obviously Werner has a lot of negative posts on this site, as well as some good ones.

Bottom line: I have to research all I can, including taking all advice into consideration, weigh that against what I feel will work for me and my families situation, trust God and make a decision.

Thank you again for providing your honest advice.

tichdaddy, You can give a man $1,000,000.00 free and he will complain that he has to pay taxes!
Yet another man will work for $1000.00 and he will consider it a true blessing!
Werner can be a blessing to you. By all means do all the research you can. No matter what, you will always find that man complaining.
To be honest with you have you considered SWIFT? I know you said you options are limited. I believe they have a new terminal in Decater. I would definetly look at SWIFT before I look at Covenant. No matter what company you choose Werner, SWIFT, Covenant, hang in there until your options open up. I know how things get stressful thinking about providing for your family. I've been there.
