I would check Craigs list and JuJu. I think I remember a company wanting sand haulers 20 days on and 10 days off.
-
Oh man, sign me up! I look at Craigslist from time to time, here in ND, at home in Michigan and also various places in Texas. Of course, Michigan pretty thin pickings. I haven't seen what you're talking about but maybe I need to look a little harder.
-
I am pretty sure it was in the San Antonio area on craigs list or JuJu.
-
It's not on Craigslist now but if you run across anything like it again please post it here. There must be many like me, people from other states who want to or need to maintain households outside the oil regions.
I left for the Marine Corps half way through my senior year of high school (I came back for the graduation ceremony). I've lived in Germany and China both. I'm 50 now and I don't care about traipsing around the world anymore. A home is good. Family is nice. It's just, these booming oilfield economies are nothing like the rest of the United States. It's like the last opportunity, the last gasp before the Federal Reserve Note ponzi scheme finally bursts and we all remember the government can't pay the bills forever with money created out of thin air. Get it now... -
The chances of finding that in Texas, nill to none... more people willing to relocate to texas than there are jobs. Companies don't have to offer incentives.
The oil boom goes in cycles, and we are reaching the plateau part of the cycle. Mismanaged companies are dropping like flies after the first freeze. Those who should have never went to work in the oil fields are going broke. Those that understand the cycle of the oil fields, and pay attention to the details are positioned for the plateau, are are raking in the good money.
North Dakota is now in the stable, keep on drilling and producing stage, the rush to get started, and get the oil and gas flowing is over. No need to rush 100's of people in to fill the jobs.
Texas, A very large work force to pull from.
Good luck on your search, but you won't find that company from a keyboard... it will take word of mouth now. -
I don't think that's true, TLeaHeart. I was going to confine my search to ND, but I heard about some places in Texas that rotate. I was told about one place but I promised not to talk about- it may be OK now since the guy who told me took another job. I know there are man camps around Karnes City. Then, there is the company Chibob mentioned.
I'm not saying there are a lot of such jobs, and for all I know, the companies doing this could be bottom feeders. I just want to know what's there and obviously many people from around the country are interested in oilfield work.
I actually get a plane ticket home where I'm at. I certainly don't expect to find that in Texas, but just the time off would be tremendously useful.
I couldn't care less who thinks it's unmanly to avoid driving in ice and snow, I've got nothing I want to prove to anyone. If the money makes it worth it I'll do it. If not, I'll take the visibility and traction. -
MP3>CB, Next time you run into these 'truck pushers' from Haliburton ask them how many 50 year old 'oilfield greenhorns' the company hires! Comparing fracking/oilfield service crews' home time with the average oilfield truck driver is apples to oranges. Your best bet is hauling crude/condensate/NGL or fresh/production water.

a lot of nd company's offer 3 on 1 off sceduals or 4 on one off. very few pay your trip home and back. as far as tx i have no idea
-
Don't comprehend. I'm not worried if someone thinks I'm too old, but I see pushers older than me. Now that you mention it, though, the crews overall seem to be pretty young. Maybe that wouldn't be an option. I know companies like Fed Ex used to look for 'college students' (young employees).
I don't know how home time is apples to oranges.
