Most stuff around here is being hauled in 8 axle flowboys and paddled out of the back of the truck.

Theres another company who uses live bottoms to drop out a load , same thing though , use a pick up machine to transfer it. When our tandems unload , they just back up to the laydown machine , bump up and put it in neutral , let the machine push em as they dump into the bin

I love hauling asphalt. 395 degrees, if something goes wrong, you won't know it. Human skin goes bye, bye @ 163 degrees.

makes me glad i live in utah. they use standard dump trucks. dump in the machine as it rolled. allowed to spray fuel inside the bed. AND, the outside. and the standard mesh tarps. to which most trucks had electric tarps.
now if it was a highway job. they used double bellies. dropped and left for another load.
by the way. how much weight do you guys haul up there. been up there one time and never before have i seen trailers with so many axles. makes me curious as to why they have a kingpin law. -
We have a pretty complicated formula we have to follow to stay legal for our weights. Its calculated per axle, then axle spread, design, tire size and a few other factors play into it such as the grade of the road your traveling on etc. My gravel trains can scale a net payload of 50 tons thats the semi-truck hooked to a lead and a pup. What exactly do you mean a kingpin law?
