That sounds like a good idea. I usually travel the 40, 10 or 8 back into California. The coop on the 8 seems pretty relaxed but I would probably run into problems on the scale on the 15 northbound just below Temecula.

by the way. noticed nevada installing a electric sign at the southbound check station. wonder if they're gonna start using that.

noticed the stopped using the northbound side.

Nah snowy northbound is still doing their thing. Seems that they have been doing a lot of training with a ton of Dot cops in there. Kingman scale is pretty relaxed but ya know this new one is gonna be working real hard once its up and running.

i loved rolling through kingman yesterday. only to see the curtains closed and some guy outside washing the windows. guess it costs too much money to have a sign saying open or closed. least they could do considering they're on a hill.

only been to cali once this year. (2weeks ago). was surprised to see nevada northbound closed on a thursday afternoon. since they were hammering down last year.

That gives a lot more information including the actual location.

It's going to be between Yates Well Rd and Nipton Rd which means you won't be getting a good run at Mountain before hitting the grade. That's already starting an ascent at that point. You can actually see where they've already made a border of the property with trails. Even has the shape for where the lane will come on and off the highway.

    https://maps.google.com/maps?q=yate...l+Rd,+Nipton,+California+92364&gl=us&t=h&z=14

Glad I don't have to go through there anymore.

FWIW, CHP has been living in Vegas and Sandy Valley for at least the past ten years now. Can't see where it will be any different for the CARB cops.

i'm just curious as to where they actually live. cuz you see of lot of scales out in the middle of nowhere. like the one in oregon in the middle of NOTHING.

i wouldn't wanna be driving that far to work and home every day.

and then there's the scales that are in very very small towns. like the lima scale in montana. on the 15. population of 50.

Well, I suppose they could live in the greater metropolitan Baker, CA area, but it would still be a long drive from there.
Back in the day, both CALTRANS and CHP lived in a housing area at the top of the grade coming out of Primm. Where that big mine is now.
