Like I said you can use a 12V one yourself. The only bigger ones you can use have to be purchased and installed by maintenance. They only have one that I'm aware of you can buy. After they install it, you can use it for 2 hours then it shuts down for 10 hours.
What will Roehl let you put in and on their trucks?

If you install their inverter and only use it for 30 min here and there does it still shut off for the 10 hours or does it only shut off if you use it for 2 straight hours?
I'm a recent CDL grad and starting with Roehl on Monday so just trying to get the info. Sorry if it's a dumb question. -
Not a dumb question at all. You have 2 consecutive hrs to use it before it shuts down for 10 hrs I believe. I use my microwave here and there for a few mins throughout the day and it's always worked. I'm thinking the 10 hr shutdown doesn't kick in unless you have the inverter on for 2 straight hrs.

Not a dumb question, I wondered the same thing before I had mine installed. The answer is closer to the latter: when it accumulates two hours of "on" time, a red light comes on and the unit must be switched off for 10 hours before it will activate again. The way I use mine is to switch it on only when I'm using it. (A few minutes while I'm running the microwave, etc.) When I think I'm getting close to two hours of accumulated "on" time, I leave it switched on until the red light comes on, then shut it off overnight to give it its 10-hour "rest." The maintenance staff who installed the unit for me gave me that tip and it's worked well.
$50 a paycheck for seven paychecks, for a total of $350. That's a bit spendy but I've been happy with the decision to have one installed.
Edit: After reading Scott's post above it got me wondering. I've never run a test where I leave it on and measure whether the red light comes on in less than two hours. The times that I've done it, it didn't seem to take two hours before coming on but like I said, I didn't sit and watch it while timing it. -
Got it...thanks for the info!

And you got me thinking..lol..Guess I never used it enough to accumulate 2 hrs in a day before it probably gets 10 hrs off. Maybe 10 hrs off just resets the 2 hr clock.

DO most of the trucks have them already on them? I am doing the 7/7 so I will be sharing a truck. That is if someone is on 7/7 in my area or I guess I may run 12/7 etc by myself until someone else wants 7/7 here in OHIO.
-
That I can't answer. I think you'd be extremely lucky to find a truck that already has one inside. I own that inverter now, so if I change trucks or leave the company it's coming with me. No idea how sharing trucks works with the inverters.

^^^ Agree

Why can you only use it for 2 hours? I thought an inverter would be able to be used for a fridge etc all the time. Is a 12v cooler the only option?
