Ok I am a agent for a broker

PROBLEM: I have the loads. I just can't seem to get the O/O. I don't know whether I don't post them on the right boards but it has nothing to do with the rates because I don't even get to that point. What websites not just load boards but actual websites or chat rooms (heck I will even sign up for trucker dating sites if that's were the truckers are) do O/O use. Do they have O/O websites that you guys frequent for specific things. I need some in sight. I currently use ITS. /there has to be other resources for O/O to make money. I am not trying to solicit business I want information.

I do not work for a Crappy, Crooked Broker. I pay at 2/mi and We do quick pay so please give advice about the post with websites .

I use the 3sixty DAT board for quality loads... ITS when that doesn't pan out for whatever crappy area I ended up in... the DAT board is pricey, but the thing about us O/O's is the credit rating and days to pay record ... if the broker you are an agent for has a bad rep, you won't be getting calls... too many of us are still waiting on pay from that load last year... it takes way too much time and effort away from our primary job of hauling freight to chase down deadbeat brokers that don't pay, or pay late... remember, the OP pays for the fuel he/she burns TODAY, waiting 45-90 days to recoup that $$$ can be a real problem... if the average truck burns 100 gals a day, @ $4.00 per gallon... over 60 days... you get the picture, I'm sure...

NOW, as for the biggest booger in your soup --> there is NO SUCH THING AS A BACKHAUL!!! When you use that term, you expose yourself to ridicule... it costs just as much to point my truck East as it does South, or West, or North... "backhaul" is broker-speak for cheap as ##### freight that nobody wants.

If you have FAIR rates and a good track record of prompt payment, you'll get calls... otherwise, it's gonna be pretty tough... One thing I have done for a broker with a bad credit rating or poor "days to pay" history, is to accept a load with Comcheck or EFS transcheck paid on the BOL proof of PICKUP... Obviously, the broker is a bit reluctant to accept this arrangement, but HE's not risking his fuel and maintenance $$$, AND, since we have cargo insurance, there's no real risk to him or the shipper -- also, I have impeccable credit and professional references...

My dad was a broker and he NEVER took more than 2-3 phone calls to cover a load... his rates were fair AND he paid within 10 days of POD...

    Best of luck to ya

basically pat a fair rate and everybody will be calling you. If not then you will not get trucks. I hate when a truck would book something that is way under the market rate. I just somehow don't understand how that is possible. I have done some calculations, trucks would pick up a load for $600 and is 350 miles. Like what do you save in that?

I don't mean backhaul aka cheap freight what I meant was is there websites out there that cater to specific things but I got the term "backhaul" form class I read in here some truckers wont move loads because the isn't backhauls available. I really just want any website that will help. I don't have a problem with rates because they are always over 2/mi. I AM NOT TRYING TO MAKE A KILLING JUST A LIVING:biggrin_255:

I don't put the rate all the time but do u need to put that to get call backs? Even if the area is not busy.

ITS and DAT are the biggest load boards, and that is where truckers go to get loads. Either your rates suck, your credit sucks, or you don't know anything about the load you're trying to sell, or a combination of the three. Maybe you work for slimeballs like TQL or UTI, and just having the name as the broker makes everyone look over you.

If you pay $2.00 or better per mile, you'll generally get a truck.. depending on the weight AND the destination... for instance, ANYTHING going to SD, ND, Miami, etc, lands the truck in a deadzone, so the rate basically needs to comp the truck for the deadhead out of there to a better freight market...

But, seriously, if you establish good, solid relationships with O/O's, you'll do fine... I've taken less $$ from brokers who have been straight with me in the past when they need me to help them out of a jam... on a previous thread, I pasted an email from one of my broker contacts asking me to do a 127 mile run for $800 on a sunday pick, same day drop... THAT was some AWESOME low hanging fruit... he thought of ME first because of my history and rep with him.. my truck is getting an overhaul, so I couldn't take the load.... BUT, I referred him to an M/C I used to haul for and helped him get it covered... Believe it or not, you CAN make friends in this biz and, usually, LOTS more $$$ by doing so...

Since you are new to the game, there may be issues with factoring companies not wanting to take a chance on you... my truck will be back in operation by next week... feel free to contact me and see if we can work together.

So you find your rates on ITS, 360DAT or some other website?
