    Why should trucking companies pay more? As long as people are willing to work that cheap, that is all they will get.

    Their is also an endless supply of foreign laborers flooding into this country. They are happy to have any job.

    Many companies, regardless of the industries that they are in, are going to 2nd. and 3rd. tier pay scales. That is, the starting and finishing pay scales are less than what the original workers started out and finished at. It saves these companies enormous amounts of money in labor and payroll costs.
