As the title of the thread states, I formally accepted an offer of employment from Swift. I will be heading to the Syracuse terminal for my 3 day orientation in the coming weeks. I will be running the "909 Comfort Zone" most likely, or Northeast Regional. I'm not fully decided yet.
Jacqueline, my recruiter, was outstanding and very forthcoming with the information I inquired about. I worked for Swift in their Maintenance Shop in Ocala, Florida and in Selkirk, New York many years ago, so I am familiar with the way the company operates. It also meant alot to me that they would consider me even with what happened with my last carrier and what they did to my DAC. Western Express was the only other company that would even talk to my under the circumstances.
I plan on using this thread to keep others informed of my experiences with Swift, both good and bad. While I will try to dwell on the positive, I will not hesitate to disclose the bad as well. I feel it's important to disclose everything when it comes to revealing the experiences you have with a carrier. This way, those who are considering going with this company can hopefully get a better idea of what to expect from Swift and they can decide ahead of time if this company is for them or not.
Stay tuned...I will update this thread as both opportunity and circumstances warrant.

Well, good for you. Swift is a good company which you already know.
As for Western Express, personally I like the company. Reason, I knew the owner, who is now passed away. He helped me in an employment pinch when I needed it and I will always be grateful.NY Snowman Thanks this. -
I spent alot of time talking to both companies. I also spent a considerable amount of time on this site sorting through and reading about the two different companies. One of the big selling points for Swift was having a terminal in Syracuse, NY. I can do my orientation there and that will be my home terminal vs. Pennsylvania for Western Express. Swift can also give me the East Coast whereas Western Express couldn't guarentee me that. It wasn't any one huge thing, but rather a lot of little things that added up to swaying my decision to Swift. Plus past experience factored in as well.Chinatown Thanks this.

ny snowman dont worry about that terminal in syracuse ny because once they get you in that truck you will be lucky to get routed back in your area beforethanksgiving..ha ha may not be that long but you'll get my drift once you get out there
you'll see every other terminal but your own

LOL...I know exactly what you're saying. Nothing really any different with Swift than it is with any other company. The one advantage I did see was that Swift has alot more lanes through the Northeast and I have a Target warehouse 15 minutes from my house in Wilton, NY. Swift does a ton of hauling to that DC and I can apply for the Northeast Regional corridor if I choose.
In this day and age of huge carriers, it's choosing the lesser of evils and finding a company that you can make the best of under the circumstances.
