Ah. What a nightmareish month i've had. Stayed out four weeks... Grrr!!!!

I got stuck in Laramie Wyoming for 5 days with a 3900 dollar load on the deck that was due on Monday morning, i couldn't deliver until friday afternoon. After that i got junk runs for the rest of the week. I decided to come home day early.

    #$45^$%$$%$#$%#4%

Yes. Freight sucks right now. I pulled copper out of Morenci Arizona up to Chitown, for less than 90CPM (to the truck) just to get home.

Eckz are you line haul or long haul?
I have my orientation this coming week and hook up with my trainer the following week. I used to be an owner op a few years ago. You ask to stay out that long??

    Parr3,

I hope she's going to get better and not have any more recurrances. Especially if you both want more kids. If, God forbid, things didn't come out alright and the mommy parts have to be removed, you could always adopt if you feel strongly about having more than one child. There's lots of kids that need someone to give them a chance. Good luck to you both.

I'm regional. I'm home every weekend unless i ask otherwise.

I asked to stay out. That one long run over the weekend for Monday makes a big difference on the paycheck. That 3900 dollar load would've been better if i had dropped it at the beginning of the week, and then ran 4 more loads thereafter.

But, this time of year the weather doesn't always let you roll freely.

    Hey Eckz or Mr. Lamar

I live in the Pacific Northwest, kids are gone, gettin ready to go back OTR. I,ve read this entire TMC thing here, you two seem to pretty smart about this outfit. Wonderin if your company runs anywhere thru here, say Portland OR area. Like I said I read this entire thread saw no mention of the northwest. I' ve had my butt planted in Pete seat fer 15 years, not really into drivin nothin else, the pay sounds reasonable, up & downs sound normal. I could stay out a month or more easy, not interested at all in the North Eastern part of the country, although been there done that, some parts are beautiful and some of the people are great just not even interested anymore. Would that be an issue with them? Would they even consider me, since I live up here?
    Thanks Gentlemen

I'm not involved in the recruiting/hiring aspect of TMC. I'm not really sure of the hiring areas. I will tell you if they hire in that area you will have no choice, but to be in the Long Haul Division. When I was long haul I did make runs into and out off Washington, Oregon, Idaho, and California. We do have a terminal in Coeur d'Alane, ID. My feeling is that they would consider you. I'm from Texas and they had a note that always showed up on their screens telling them I preferred running in the West. They did their best to accommodate me. Of course, you have to go where the freight is.

Terry, Thanks for the response, I understand you're a driver, that's cool , I didn't mean to insinuate anything there, just seemed like you guys knew what you were talkin about, thought I'd ask. Anyway, I also see you're 51 same age as me so the question about beenin in that age range must not be a problem. If the long haul division is the only option, no problem there that I can foresee, as I would like to run 3,4 weeks out or more. Only problem I have is North East, don't want nothin to do with it, would that be a problem if I just flat told them NO! I'd rather sit, or take cheaper freight somewhere else that you know of? Any info is appreciated, just pickin your brain here. Like I said in last post my butt seems to fit best in a Pete Seat, so TMC is very interesting.

Your age won't be a problem, as long as you pass the DOT Physical. I have never told them no on a load. I guess it would make a difference on whether you had been dispatched or not. My feeling is that they would expect you to run the NE if that was all the freight that was available. I've never been in that position.

I started out Long Haul for five months, switched to Line Haul for another six months and am now on the Peterbilt Dedicated account. I enjoyed Long Haul more than any other division. I do like where I am now. I get to go home every day, or almost every day.

I would call recruiting and tell them your concerns. Just remember their job is to get you in. Once you become a driver it could change. Like I say, I think you would have to run all 48 states or possibly run all.

Oh, and I took no offence about the recruiting misunderstanding. I only commented on that to make sure you knew that I might not know what I was talking about. I don't look at recruiters negatively.
