1000 base pay + 200 for average of one weekend day worked per week comes out to 1200 a week, which is aproximately 4800 a month. Just wondering where you got 9600 or what you meant by it.
-
4 additional days a month @ $200 x 12 months = $9600 added to the M-F base pay of $1000.
Working 50 weeks is $50,000 plus the $9600, for the year. Gross, of course.
$500 for vacation weeks, which is less than stellar, but better than nothing. So add another $1K

I made the same last year as I did the year before and the year before that! I darn well better make more this year or I'll be making it somwhere else!

Hard to understand why you're so upset if you don't say who you're working for or what you've made the last year (or 3).

What is not to understand? Aside from cost of living increases, of which truck drivers have been in the negative for many years...
But aside from that, I don't see why more pay each year is expected. In my prior profession of land surveying additional years meant more knowledge. But in trucking, does a 20 year vet get a box load to the receiver much faster or safer than a 5 year driver?
In land surveying my 30 years of knowledge of court cases, local knowledge of centuries of past work etc, were a calculable resource to clients compared to a five year license.

It depends on the individual driver, but in most instances that's a resounding yes. The reason behind this is that drivers who have 2-5 years of safe driving typically start to become overconfident in their abilities. This makes them more prone to have an accident over drivers who just 'graduated' from a mill.Last edited: Aug 11, 2013

Patty, perhaps you could apply for an over the road, OTR, job with Tyson Foods out of Springdale Arkansas. Tyson Foods has a reputation of treating their drivers extremely well, along with some of the best pay and benefits bestowed upon an OTR truck driver in all of the United States of America. Their toll free number is 1-800-933-6442.
God bless you and your family!
