    You know, I can't say for sure because US Xpress can is not very driver friendly at times, but when I called claims they seemed to not be making a big deal about about this. I doubt very much that he got more than a company based point or two, but if he continues to rack up points for hitting stuff then he'd be let go.

    I don't understand why the new driver would lose his job. Wasn't it his trainer that hit the other truck? :dontknow:

    I'm not sure that point system would apply to a new hire under a probationary period. With most companies, you're done after one accident within your probationary period. Who was at fault and whether or not the accident was preventable doesn't matter.

    Yeah, I forgot to mention that my trainer was a million miler that had been driving for 15 years. He was an owner op with Werner. I did learn a lot from the guy, but he was stubborn as a mule. I tried to make suggestions on a few things related to technology that he used such as GPS, CB and Wifi, but he would have no part of learning something new.... :) So I just keep my mouth shut and did it his way while I was on his truck. BTW, his way included hitting a Brand NEW Volvo truck mentioned above. My point is that just because you are a trainer, it don't mean that the student can't teach you something.

    It doesn't make a difference what carrier it is. Like it or not, there are drivers who either don't care, can't judge their distance, don't know their own operating capabilities, or just plain don't care. When I get to a truckstop, I automatically look for the back row to make sure I have enough space and don't have to worry about negotiating between parked vehicles. The less congestion, the better. It's just common sense.
    Even after I park, I'm still a nervous wreck if there are empty spots next to me. If I'm in my truck when another driver is trying to back into a spot next to me, I ALWAYS get out and spot him, whether he wants me to or not. If it's dusk or night time, I always make sure my parking lights are on as well to help other drivers see my truck. Even when you're parked, you still have to do everything possible to avoid being hit by someone else in these lots.

    Good to see another one of thesweeding themselves out it's too bad they messed up a parked truck to it.

    I avid the front where it's busy and avid the easy spits as people that need the easy spots will be parking next top you.

    Even if you get yourself right with Jesus, Allah, or the Spaghetti Monster the hood manglers will still find ya.

    I watched an idiot today, was bobtailing around the terminal trying to find a loaded trailer I was supposed to get that a driver dropped in a different spot than mapped out...besides that frustration here is my goal story for the day

    I had to stop and was waiting for a driver to do a blind side parking, why he chose to blind side when there were like 20 easy spots available I dont know, anyway im watching this guy, he has his truck fully jackknifed and the tractor was heading for some poles, I yelled on the cb he was about to back into some poles and either he ignored me or his cb was off, he ended up hitting the poles but lucky was just bumping with the tire. He pulls forward and backs a few times finally changing position some, he then proceeds to go for the spot and im watching his trailer heading towards a parked truck next to the spot he was aiming for, I yelled on the cb again and either he heard me or finally realized his stupidity, he pulled up and the driver of that truck hurried and took off out of there and went to another spot, I then waited while he spent the next few minutes still trying to get into that spot....

    Not even one time did this idiot get out and look, I finally just turned around and went the other way, hopefully he got parked without doing damage but I didnt stick around to find out.

    Seems to me, any trainer that tells his trainee, "No, getting out is for rookies", then has an accident because he did not get out, needs to go back into training. :biggrin_25512:

    But what do I know? I'm not a rookie yet:biggrin_25524:
