Personally I enjoyed teaming, I slept better with the truck moving, and got along great with my trainer, it all comes down to how well you get along and can tolerate the person you are teaming with, and how well you trust their driving, there's only two people I know in the industry right now who I would team with

I sleep just fine in a moving truck! I will miss the split hours that we use to be able to do.

Since I will be teaming with my hubby soon, the money goes to the same "coffer" so to speak, so for us it works, however splitting when it's not a couple doesn't really make one any more money. Been that route too.

It depends on your miles and what company. Most companies I can get into as a student are around 30 cpm. Some places pay 40 to 50 cpm for a team, and if you get close to twice as many miles as a solo driver, that's a bit more money.

Not directed at you lilbit of course, but there are A LOT of people that think that the split in team pay means you split the listed cpm and then you only get as many miles as you drive yourself. It's ALL the miles the truck moves (what you AND your partner drive) multiplied by your split cpm to figure what your cut is. I get a bit surprised how many experienced drivers still don't get that, lol.

when i first came out. it was team. and it sucked. even though we split the hours. one hour in and i couldn't wait to crawl back into bed.

i wished gps was around back then. cuz there were a couple of times when the co driver was in the seat. and i could swear we weren't moving. and when it was my turn to drive. we were still in the same state.

You explain the split exactly right! That's how it worked for the short time that I ran team with another driver.

Sick thing about that 30 cpm for new drivers, is that when I started in 1999, that number was actually higher . . . I started at 32 cpm.

Yeah, I've heard... Our whole economic is in the crapper tho, so I don't think its only trucking wages that arent going up that much. I'm not too worried tho. My last job was security for 10 an hour tho. It would take a really bad first year not to beat that, lol. I'm only 26, I can put up with a mega for a year or 2 easy.
