Then I don't know why , unless weather. He gets paid per truck. So he going to hit as many as he can.
I dumped a forklift in the dock once. Lift driver came got me , we crossed the dock to get to the office. Did the paper work , crossed back across dock noting dock door closed and light off. Pulled out to shut the doors , get back there , and his lift is sitting in the dock . On top of the dock door. He had not folded the dock plate and the lift was parked on the plate. When I pulled out the plate fell , out rolled the lift. Shipper supervisor wanted to fuss that I pulled out with out permission. Till I showed him signed paperwork. So you HAD been to the office? Yep, paperwork in hand, door closed, wheel chocks stowed . He then turns his anger toward the lift driver. Can I go now? -
Num3 who they put you with ?

Yeah about 1 more second that one would have been ugly. Thankfully for her he idled away from the dock as opposed to tearing away from it. Probably saved her life. I never did agree with having seat belts on a forklift. It's just hanging there teetering half in half out of the trailer and she's strapped right in scared to move. I had it happen to me once when I was young back in the days before red light green light and self leveling dock locks. I was coming back out of a trailer and was off the lift soon as I felt the truck move and it rolled out and fell upside down on the concrete. Would have killed me if I'd have been strapped in like she was.
Driver was shook up worse than she was. Funny they didn't make a big deal out of it to him. If it'd been his fault you can bet everyone and their brother would have been there to assess blame.
Took them about an hour to figure out how to resolve the situation and get her off the lift and the lift back up in the truck. Meanwhile the docks are closed and nothing happening. At least I had enough of a window on this one after all that time and then the live load I'm still 45 minutes to the good for Eden tomorrow. -
hey drivers, i was thinking about applying with epes. how much time off do yall usually get. is in just 34hrs or a full 48hrs. thanks for any info you can give
-
Some times it's 34 hours and sometimes it's 24 hours and sometimes it's 48 hours . Depends where you live and what freight lane your in . If you live close by Greensboro you will can get 48 hours . If you need more time you can always talk to them . Epes is real good about giving you plenty of time if you need it .

ok,thanks for the info twizzler

Yeah it really varies. I live 10 minutes from the yard in Greensboro but I may only get 24 or I may get 2 whole days. The month of July I was only home 3 days but then this month I had almost the first 5 days off, neither by choice just the way it worked out. It used to be really consistent but that consistency has kinda gone away. We still get in at some point during the week most weeks though
But they are pretty good about working with you if you need some extra time in.
Due to these new HOS rules to get a 34 generally you're in 40-48 otherwise you end up having to run your recap.
Just depends on what your load in for the weekend is and where and when it delivers. Been getting stuck out 2 weeks more often this year than before so just factor that in as well. You won't get home every single weekend but will see the house most weeks. -
Daniels, they put me with J.C. Hunt.
