But Wausau is a beautiful part of Wisconsin, ain't it?:biggrin_25520: Used to have a regular delivery to Wausau Metals.

A few years ago, we had a married couple who drove for WH come in to our shop to pickup freight going that way. Nice people, got to know them well. Anyway, they were running a team, but had a tractor with only a single bunk. Kinda inconvenient, the wife said they slipped a piece of plywood under the mattress, with part sticking out, so she could sleep at the same time as her husband. They worked for WH for several years, loved the company, the people, the job, ran all over the country, but hated the truck. Dispatcher told them, the next new double bunk that came in was theirs. They got back from a run one day, and there is a new double bunk sitting next to the shop. They go to the dispatcher to get the keys, so they can start moving in, and he laugh's at them! He says you can't have that truck, that's for so and so, who runs a lot more miles! Right there, they decided that WH was not the place to stay! The last I heard, they were driving for Ashley Furniture.

I couldnt imagine how bad a company must be to hire teams and give them single sleeper bunks..I also agree with the person who wanted to know why these companies spend so much money a year trying to attract drivers, only to treat them like garbage once they get there??These companies are so stupid, and I am suprised a few of theses ceo's of some of the bigger companies havnt been knocked off yet by some disgruntled drivers..I couldnt go to sleep at night if I was a ceo of a company with a bad reputation cause of the way the treat their drivers.I guess to some the ol mighty buck has a higher value then respct..

I got a letter from WH Transportation trying to recruit me. Well, when I saw their dress code and all the things you CAN'T do, I said 'forget it.' If I'm on the road, I should be able to wear something comfy, and not their dumb uniforms, right?

Believe it or not, I had Rand McNally on my cell phone. I paid $3.99 a month for it and that got me everywhere I needed to go with no problems. Door to door. Los Angeles to Columbus...It was awesome. If the phones still offer that, it's worth it.

In all my Driving years (1984 still rolling) I have never experienced a company quite like WH Transportation based out of Rothschild, WI.. It seems like they go out of their way to ensure the driver is constantly under hardships on the road.. They have succeeded in having the most incompetent dispatch I have ever had the dis-pleasure of being under...Ever! Spending a 1 1/2 with this company has given me a clear picture of this rogue company that shows no concern for its hard working, tired, wornout, road weary drivers... If you are a driver from the South..Do not work for WH! WH advertises 9 days out and you get 3 days off... absolute lie! Its more like 14 days out and then go to the WH yard (on a Friday) and hope you can get a load back down south.. If not you sit in the Yard all weekend without pay, till Monday.. Heres their little trick.. you've been out 14 and they know you want to go home, but they have no intentions of paying you to sit there (WH yard) till Monday, so they will hit you with a NorthEast run, knowing you will not take it, thus covering them from having to pay you layover pay.. Low Down! When you get back down south you are under a load that will have to be delivered by you, before you start your time off. I dare you to try and take 3 days off, because they will pull you out of the house, calling you, saying we have noone else and we have too much freight in the Atlanta yard..
Good luck getting layover pay, detention pay and adequate time off with WH Transportation.... You face long waits between freight, a dispatch which offers little support to its drivers (no to mention vindictive). Shortchanging on layovers & detention pay, not to mention they advertise practical miles (Rand Mcnalley) which is closer to PCmiler short miles, inconsistent paychecks.. I get calls all the time from my WH trainees and sure enough, one by one are leaving WH very unhappy.. "Sometimes the Grass is Greener on the otherside of the Fence".. I wish them luck!

Pull you out of the house? Yeah right, that's a good one. don't bother answering the phone. Better yet, unplug it until you were ORIGINALLY supposed to go back out.

"Sorry folks, me and the wife went out for a while."

I had it on my sprint phone. It was tedious typing in an address and the screen was kinda small but dang if it didn't work. Would even work on US 17 in NC and VA. Gotta spend money to make money out here. I still pay to have it on my phone even though I got a laptop with the broadband card, you never know when you might need it still.

They treated me ###### for the first few months then it got better and I got to love working for them.Unfortunatly they went almost belly up and now only have about 60 trucks and those are all house haul and flatbed.

If it was that bad these guys could have gotten a different dispatcher unless they were GA drivers,I was home in OH every weekend and had good pay and after the first few months of hell things were great.I drove for them out of OH and out of GA,left them as a GA driver and moved back to OH then went back and it was all good from then on.Had a great dispatcher and good miles but a lot of new england and NJ but I got over it.You gotta work guys, not just at your job but work at being cool with dispatch. You don't have to brown nose but be cool about things and don't flip out on them and it works better.

No Directions? No Problem, you know the city your picking up in or dropping in, go and stop and ask. If you have a laptop, look it up, if fails still more ways to find out. I've stopped and asked, called 911, and stop at fire stations. Always got where I needed to be.

You mean I have to WORK to make money? I thought if I sit around and whine enough that they'll treat me RIGHT. Dangit! Time to call Jerry Springer and Dr Phil. I need a hug from my sister mama!
