I have done a search on google and here...looking for info on Above Par Transportation out of Joplin(web city). Found the website...not much else. This is pretty much what I know: medical, d.deposit, governed at 68, paid xm radio, late model petes(transmission?), run midwest and s.west (to cali)-mostly, Reefer/van with 50? trucks and o/ops. Anyone have any experience with these guys, good or bad? Thanks :smt031
Searched "above par transportation" one result-my question. No answers. Good? Right?

Had a drug test and physical exam thursday the 22nd a little over a week ago. The physical included a exercise routine picking up 50 pounds, stair stepping 3 minutes...pretty easy stuff. It took about two hours for it all.
Day two on friday, filled out paper work for two or three hours including meeting everyone in each department in the company. I dont think I have ever met a nicer group of people. These guys are the best, good folks.
That friday night they put me to work-had a short run after midnight, a just in time load for 0300 in KC. Have not stopped moving since. The equipment are newer(3-4year) 386 petes with a super ten transmission(13 gear). Speed is governed at a fast 68. I dont know about the other trucks but mine pulls strong. Its a good truck, it was clean, almost new tires..I think they even put a new mattress in it for me. And! It comes with a ice box installed. I love my icebox! Stocked it the other day but I will be darned, I forgot to get ice cream! ..ah well next time. The trailers are the same-good newer equipment well taken care of. They dont mess around, if something is wrong with it they fix it. Nice big clean shop..well in fact everything is clean, organised and kept up in good condition. Oh the trailers-mostly reefers, about half my loads have been dry loads. The reefers are the quite kind..a tolerable buzz.. you can sleep with it running..Oh! also they have the button you pull out air controlled thingama job to move the tandems. Very sweet. Nice. Dispatch is cool, seems they have a load planned the day before I get empty..have not sat once waiting for a reload. In fact he preplanned me on my first three loads. Short run to KC, reload nearby to Wisconson and a reload drop and hook back to Joplin.
I have been with three other companies in the past ten years and I am so ever grateful to find these guys. I do believe I have found a home. If you want otr they will keep you busy. They do need regional drivers. The trucks are issued to you but..they like them parked in the yard when home, they wont let you take the truck home...so living within an hour or so of Joplin(Web city) seems to be a requirement I guess.. Ive met a couple of other drivers, they are like me..living over the road mostly. They run mostly midwest, south to Texas, and west thru Arizona, New Mexico, and southern California.
Lets see..other details. Started new at .33 suppose to get a raise shortly? Paper logs. Prepass for scales, no easy pass for toll roads. No orienation pay-I think. You can get a cash advance of $100 twice a week. Tuesday and Thursday. Direct deposit once a week and with an option to be emailed your pay stub. EFS fuel card-Loves, pilot, flyin hooks. EFS Transcheck-like comdata for lumpers.. They are going to get me a twic soon, when we get a chance. Transflo. If you have a smarty phone like me, they have an ap for that. It took about twenty minutes to download and send a ten page delmonte b.o.l. my first time, pretty easy to figure out. Take a pik, accept, send. It takes me about a minute or two now- Fancy. Free xm radio, 240 channels just isnt enough. The dash is loaded with all the gauges you can fit on there. Auto kingpin release-its nice. Hook up for your own CB radio.
Welll.. thats about all I can think of except one thing. For goodness sake! I will be your bestest friend forever! I will buy your dinner and your beer and your whatever and even throw you a ten or twenty dollar bill every time I see you...If you decide to hook up with Above Par Transportation TELL THEM YOU FOUND OUT THROUGH ME!!!! Randy L.K./smilingdeaddog. I get a hundred bucks every month we both are working for them..so I WILL be your best friend(as long we are both working for them)
I can honestly say, I know its only been a little over a week since rocking a truck and trailer for these guys but I havent come across anything negative to say about Above Par...give it a month, I am sure I will come up with something. Take care drivers. AdiosLast edited: Aug 26, 2013
Dark_Majesty_06 Thanks this. -
Do you have any details about their insurance? Like how much, when it goes into effect and what-not. Still happy so far? We live an hour south of Joplin and looking for a new "home" for my hubby.

Yes. They have decent insurance. Principle Financial Group. Never heard of it, but it looks all right.(might be a bit pricey-but IDK) 90 days. Cost is about(weekly)...single $35, married $130, family $200, single w/kids $105. A bit more if you add dental and or vision.
And yes! Absolutely, I am still happy. Only thing is trying to get a break..haha. Yep, they will run you up to your seventy and keep you going(lets see you have four today, you can pick up the load, wait till midnight when you have an eleven dropping off and run it to deliver at eight). Thats ok, I am putting money in the bank and I get a decent break every two weeks...or so.
Sorry I have not been on here sooner Steph D. been kinda busyHope you all are doing well...

I can only speak of Above Par on the shipping and scheduling end... but they are GREAT folks to work with. Have used them for many loads out of Joplin over the years.
