I have put off providing this info since the later half of 2009.

The time has come to provide an insight to the O/O program at Lone Star in Gainesville, TX.
If the following info has changed since then please update this post with the recent information concerning Lone Stars O/O's percentage rates and procedures.

As of 2009 O/O's were on a sliding percentage rate of the line-haul based on the type of their provided trailer that was being pulled.

Example: Basic flat or step-deck 67%. 3 axle stretch flat or step 62%. RGN or other specialized multi-axle trailer 50%

What I discovered was Lone Star would send the O/O's after loads which could have been hauled on basic flat or step-deck trailers with specialized trailers boosting the company's percentage income while reducing the O/O's percentage of revenue. I was also informed by my dispatcher that company trucks were given priority over O/O's.
An O/O with their own trailer would be compensated 75% of the line-haul revenue.
These are the highlights of my 6 month lease to Lone Star.

In short, I do not consider this a profitable company for O/O's.

Cant be if 1st they've weaseled you outta good loads by using company drivers and 2nd by not letting you choose the trailer fit to haul a load. Thanks for exposing these folks and to think for one sec. They're a trullu successful outfit cause they ride in new paint. As the olr adag3 goes, "not everything that shines is gold."
