It saves the company on SS, Medicare, & workman's comp insurance. It saves you on SS, Medicare, & income tax. That may or may not ultimately be a benefit.
False. Per diem appears on both pay stubs and the end of year w2
The driver may benefit if the admin fee is 2cpm or less. More than 2cpm is costing the employee all-around.
To deduct the 59/day you must itemize -- losing the $6,000 standard deduction.
cliffs: it may be beneficial for you and the company. It might not. It depends on the situation. Blanket answers are almost always wrong.
If the driver in my example needed workman's comp, he would get 700/week w/o per diem and 515 with. He would also draw less social security at retirement
Should I sign up for per diem?

Hey Double! Empty your inbox.... I just tried to send a big msg and couldn't...

If they are making you take perdiem. then tell them you want a bus ticket home. when they try and say it's a benefit for the drivers and if they could. they would have it. remember it's not a job if you are paying them to work.

No it's optional. Everyone is saying no to do it so I'm not going to take it. So it'll be less money now but you can file for it come tax time right ?

When in doubt, do not take per diem. Wait until you have weighed both sides of the issue.
