I started a tread in February, " My new truck will be ". We have some conversation with some new owners about ongoing issues. If you are interested.
It is a nice ride, my mpg is from the high 7 to low 9, depend on the weather and the load. The first four months average is 8.4. I like the truck, but the built quality is not as good as I would expect from the premium brand. The dealerships also very upsetting. However, you could be better off, since they collect some experience on our trucks by the time you get it, and also some bugs will be worked out. My truck was involved five recalls already.

We have been leasing a 680 since February. Over 50K on it now. Only issues we have had was the radio had to be replaced (warranty). The other day the gauge lights went out. Next time i started the truck up they were back on and have worked since.Other than that no issues at all. Even got it a month earlier than expected.

Zeusiam, Thanks for the update. I was told today that mine has cleared customs, so I expect it in the dealer at anytime now. Hoping I don't have to many issues with it. Sounds like you have had good success so far. Is your engine a MX or ISX?

On the my new truck thread I have seen the guage lights issue several times now, so I'll be watching for it.

On another note: In this forum how is it that I am a Bobtail Member? How does the rating work?

    Keep her rollinnnnnnnnnnnnnn

Why do you guys talk about it like it the engine problems when it is clearly not. It is all aftertreatment junk. And it is well known that cummins has problems there. The engine itself is very reliable. You just wait for those Paccars to put some miles on, they you'll see plenty of them not just on hooks, but on boards taken apart. As for DD15 that is the best engine on the market as of now. Mercedes is Mercedes after all.

I was thinking about getting 680, but after analyzing all your posts it seams like they put it out to quick after 700, sounds like it built even worse then FL, also looks like they targeted the fleet market with it. Shame on KW. I guess I'll have to stay on my Volvo for 2 more years before they figure it out.

At least, Paccar, opposite to volvo, is bringing in something new: HID light, fresh style, all lock rears, etc. Volvo got stuck at decade ago with bending floor, ever leaking air, trembling dashboard, and ugliest upholstery.
As for DD15/16 its too small reason to limit someone choise just on FL.

Ok, I have been reading how "great" the DD15 is.. Let me tell you, it is not. I run a fleet of 26 trucks, mostly Cascadia's/Evolution with DD15. We have 2009-2014. All are 505hp some are 1550 torque some are 1650 depending on the year. One of our biggest problems is the lack of power. The power that the Detroit puts to the ground, is terrible in comparison to Cummins, and even the Paccar now. Let alone the reliability factor. We have had serious issues, mostly in the 2011's. 3 of them in there first 60,000 miles lost there turbo's, one of them the fan came off, and countless, and i mean COUNTLESS emission problems. Dozer valves, DPF Filters, Manual Regen issues (would not regen),

I recently was sent to Detroit Diesel for a tour of the factory, and they try to brain wash you with how great there product is. I will say that the 12.7 was one of the best multi-purpose engines made, with a combination of power, fuel economy and reliability. I have started switching us to Volvo 780's (D13 500, w/Ishift) and KW T680's Paccar MX 455 13 speed.

I don't care that Freightliner is now using a new one box system made by Donaldson, they have (Diamler as a whole) have proven to be very unreliable. We all have had bad luck with trucks in our past, but these trucks as a whole, have proven to be unreliable, and I can't wait to have them cycled out of our fleet.

We all have our opinions, but mine are backed by facts, and the fact is Diamler is fixed any of the previous issues that the Freightliner name brought with it years ago. For Freightliner to sell a truck as cheaply built as the Cascadia, how can they try to sell the truck for more than a loaded up KW T680, Volvo 780? Freightliner is Freightliner....

A very unhappy Freightliner Customer :)
