when I first read this, I thought, Why the H3LL would they put a driver with JB Hunt, another company....then saw the "C"! lol Met Jack Haden today! He's actually a really cool guy. Everybody told me he retired...but he said he fills in, from time to time. That's pretty cool! Had to stay in Chester tonite, going to Pitman, as always...ok $5 goes to the first driver that knows where I'm picking up at in the morning! haha I don't know yet, but we all know, it's gonna be 1 of 4 places! I hope it's not "Need $50 to point you in a direction you already know where to go!" lol
-
hell if I get pitman now I just make sure I've got 50 in my wallet before I go lol.......saves having to run out of the way to an atm before I even get the load assignment
but i'll say you go to flat rock rd then up to Baldwinsville and then get a Syracuse back to browns summit and then you get in for the weekend. if I got that right i'll go buy a lottery ticket lol
unlike myself who ended up in Greensboro on Wednesday with a whopping 146 miles to garysburg for thursday. no way I see the house this weekend. I hate being in this close midweek it never goes well for getting home when I amdinkytruckerdoo Thanks this. -
for some odd reason, being unloaded now, I have a feeling you might be right! You know I can't believe, as long as I've been here, and as high as the lottery has gotten....I STILL have yet to play! That's either on my "to do" list this year or my New Years Resolution! lol

hey, epes drivers, i applied for south east regional with you guys today. can you tell me how much if any of your freight is drop and hook?
-
I'm going to be straight up about drop and hooks !!!!!! They say 65 percent some weeks bam you have turn and burns and some weeks you have nothing but live loads and live unloads . If you piss your DM off you will get nothing but live loads and live unloads but hey if you have to wait more than 2 hours you get 12 bucks a hour until they get you loaded or unloaded . Last week I made 348 dollers just off live loads and live unloads
-
12 bucks an hour is not bad at all. my last company didnt pay anything. thanks for the info twizzler
-
75% or more of what I do is drop and hook.
-
if that's true and that's the percentage you're getting, then you're either #### lucky, one of the special ones, or on dedicated somewhere. since I don't know who you are, there's no way for me to say one way or the other except you fall into one of those 3 categories. the reality for most of the rest of us is much different. i'm sure some of the others would concur. it's more like below....
this is closer to the day to day reality......other than knocking down some #### good detention. i'd say that my percentage of d/h is at 50% or less right now.
sure you have those weeks where you drop, hook, rock and roll all week and you're at 2700-3000+ with time left at the end of the week but those are getting fewer and farther between.
and then there are weeks like this week.......
moday pickup and roll all day for a Tuesday am live unload. bounce 30 miles for a live load then run the rest of the day Tuesday into wednesday for a Wednesday pm live unload. 4hrs left when you get there, 3 in front of you, only one dock open and one guy unloading. wait 3 hrs on that to happen. out of time at that point so bounce 40 to the yard and drop the empty Wednesday night for a load going to jersey Thursday morning for a Friday morning live unload. a required driver assist live unload. then get a 2 stop pickup, neither of which pick up until your clock is almost run out, are only 8 and 32 miles respectively from the last unload, live load both of them, one 4 hrs after the next, firm times, to run down to chester and drop Saturday morning. Friday I burned 12:42 off my clock for only 170.8 miles......then get a pickup Saturday morning that doesn't load until you've only got 4 hours left so that means home late Saturday early sunday and no reset. deliver early Monday morning, live unload. no detention paid for any of it because the pickup delivery times either had a window, or were within my hours available but either right at the start and then hurry up and wait until I was almost out of hours.
that of course is the other extreme but what my week this week was........on delivery Monday morning i'll have 1620 miles and burned 62 hrs off my clock....but at least what i'll get back each day will carry me pretty good till Friday and maybe I can reset my reset to something a little better than what it is right now. some weeks are like that. the true reality of it falls somewhere in between that sweet 75% quoted above and what I did this week. your results may vary.Last edited: Aug 17, 2013

Dinky, you almost jinxed me pretty ####### big time. almost. after I hung up with you Friday and you told me about the mixup with your paperwork, I went in to get my paperwork.
so how many of you look at your paperwork when they hand it to you? I mean really look at it when you get it, beyond just making sure the trailer and seal and bol number are correct? some dont' even check that but that's for another post lol I've picked up a couple that had a new seal on and when I asked why the numbers didn't match they told me the driver picked up the wrong load had to bring it back and the paperwork and seal had to be redone.....anyway.....
guy beside me in the dock Friday drives for Baylor. he gets a green before I do and goes in and comes back out and I hear him tell the hot little blonde with hm his paperwork isn't ready yet. about 20 minutes later I get my green. go in and get my paperwork and seal, go out to button everything up and go. SCAC is correct. trailer number is correct. BOL number is correct. seal number is correct.
number of pallets and cons are wrong. product on the bills doesn't match product on the trailer
looked at it for a second or two and knew it just wasn't right. walked over and asked him where he was going. he was going to the place on the bills she gave me. she entered all my info onto the bills that he was supposed to have. that could have been a big mess if I hadn't taken the time to read everything and didn't just take it for granted that just because the numbers matched up that everything else was right. one of those old habits that die hard from the airplane days when you had to check every line of every manifest and flight plan before a flight.
check everything and then double check. don't assume or take anything for granted.Last edited: Aug 17, 2013
