the gospel truth and I am still chuckling

Also know your companies log violation policies. If your truck is governed at 75 but they write you log violations for anything over 65 then sadly you have to account for that.
-
keeping the trash out of the truck is more of my policy then just off the dash.
But i have a real issue with anything on my dash i cant even stand it when the shope will mount a C.B. on the dash it drives me nuts to have it there.
I normally find a diffrent way to mount it so it is not there.
at wrok now in our local trucks they have the gps reciver taking up our mounts in on the celing. so i made a mount to fit there int he same holes and would make it possibel to mount my radio under it. then i turned the GPS so it was flat and i didnt have to look at that thing. it is not for us to use anyway.
it is for them and dont even work LOL
they will show us at one end of the city and were sitting at the main plant that is at the other end. kind of funny how many times a day we get asked where we are at.

Ok this is for all you TRUCKERS. MINUS those truckers that the company says log 5 miles under (which are telling you to falsify your logs basically).
You should
1) log what you are actually doing!
2) Do NOT go over the posted speed limit for truck drivers
3) Do NOT log paid miles (most companies you will add 10% to the miles they give you and that's what you will actually drive to pre-plan your load
If you log what you are actually doing and keep track of the odometer reading from midnight to midnight and subtract them to get the total miles driven you should not have problem (if you are not speeding)
What you need to understand is if you are in an accident and you do not log what you are actually doing and someone gets hurt or killed that accident can be held against you.
I suggest this:
1) UNDERSTAND: What lines 1,2,3 & 4 means (just ask me, because I bet you don't understand what lines 1 & 2 means and I bet you feel that line 4 should not be logged, well DOT says different and that' what they are looiking for in their :internal audits"
If you are working for daddy Log it as on-duty the whole time
-
well im not working for my daddy. he never came home after a well known war. (excuse me Conflict)
But thank you fo rthe info.
I was asked and due to me being in town or off the road for as long as i have been i could nto say for sure to him how to log. it.
I was thinking we could do the leagal limit in your books if you can run the logs.
But if you are sppeding then you need to make damed sure that
1. you dont get caught (to expensive)
2. you log it as you drove it so that your not gettign naild for fasle logs. btu then again this gose back to line 1.
DO NOT SPEED.
but for the most part he is driving west of Ia. So it is for the most part 70+ MPH in those states as far as i know . Unless something has changed agian.
I know there are some that have areas that are not this. but most are. -
Well in theory you could end up in prison
over falsifying your logs
-
EXACTLY! So keep your log book current and fill in all the blanks and you shouldn't have a problem. However what ALL DRIVERS need to UNDERSTAND is just because you get over them on the road doesn't mean when they audit the company they won't find them violations because they WILL! They have plenty of time to audit your logs and they have all the documentation and they have ALL the TOOLS to do so!
Its you drivers on the road that help keep the DOT audits down! If you get a DOT Out of service this helps attract DOT to us and red flags the company so means more audits on the road and the closer they look at that log book you have! SO DO the COMPANY & U a favor and keep them logs current, legal and don't run over your hours (if you do log it as you did it and write down why u did it, don't make this a weekly/bi-weekly/monthly habbit though.
Once a month might be logical to run over for some un forseen reason or issue, but may not be acceptable.
Again a tip for you all driving out there -
Yeah, PRISON.
-
I am so sorry about the daddy thing I am not even sure why I said that, just being silly again I guess. I appoligize I sure didn't mean it in a bad way "really".
Yeah if he is in the 70mp zone then he can log "no more" than 70 mph and to argue that you did less would be debatable and tough. However do it the way I told you and you should not have a problem
Have a great day/night
