Hmmm... I would say keep on calling Bratt Haul. Sometimes they (office folks) are a bit out of the loop about what's available. I don't know if you get the Sunday Republican, but I looked and there were a couple of companies interested in newbies. I have the print edition, not sure if everything is on MassLive or not. If you want to ask a mod, I will e-mail you the info. Anyhow, good luck and drive safe in the 'Show- Me" (Missouri) state.

I agree..I live near there and have a scanner that I listen to...Always when a storm hits VT has more wrecks the MA or NH..

I have driven in NH,VT and MA during storms and VT seems to be dragging there heals to get out and take care of there roads..

This wreck by the way is only 13 miles form my home..

------I was a noob at webster. and there are so many places that i would still be a noob at going to those places that I never been to. There was alot of experienced older drivers there that were very helpful. I lasted there quite a while for a noob. Of all the companies I've been too they were the best. Most easy to get along with and very respectful people in general overall. Very rarely did I ever have an issue with anyone there. Unfortuneately the last issue was something related to fatigue that I was a noob about. I really liked webster but had to leave. They put alot of pressure on me just before I left. I felt like I should either fight or flight. I didn't want to do time incarcerated trying to get the boss to listen and I didn't really want to leave. But chose to leave. Haveing already taken the other route in life at one time. I wish I did the last requested loads and then left notice because I did want to leave on good terms. But now its kindof a messed up situation. I want to go back but I know no touch and what it was to have an assigned tractor instead of slip seating. I didn't do many stops in a week which was better on my back but I also felt like the sole survivor. They have a lot of great things about there company. There were only two things that I had a problem with. One of those things was almost never a problem but when it was it was important. That was the fatigue issue. The scheduleing was good and I rarely got TOO fatigued. But just before I left they were putting extra load on me and I was getting physicly so that I wasn't recovering properly. How was I to know that in three days I would be too tired to run? If I knew it before then I would have requested a personal day three days in advance. The other issue was the going to the Boston n NYC area without haveing been there before. I guess they thought I was qualified at one point and so I was going to be asked to do that. I was worried about that. But since have been there anyway. Still I beleive that if I had the opportunity to drive in those areas with my car first to get familiar with those cities or go as a passenger that it would be the best way to go there safely. In other words if I knew the area first then it would make it a safer trip. Since that idea is not really consistent with reality (cost too much) then it would help to see arial photos of the area first. So I'm thinking of asking webster again because I really liked the people there and at the same time trying to make google earth work. Now that I've designed a new piece of computer software (might be called software I guess-have to get a second opinion) I have more free time. I hope they consider me again, and can understand if I go for an assigned tractor. With some assigned tractor companies I would have a more routine schedule which is better for body circadean rythm. There also are not many nice Pilot and T/A stops around here in New England. I really liked those misc nowhere restaurants with good food. So it is a difficult choice. To do alot of backing up and stopping and city driving makeing up for people who didn't show up etc standing in the grocery line for food at the stops, compared to longing for the next stop to appear on the horizen because I'm hungry. trapped in a sense into haveing to stay a stranger. Difficult choice. One is better for the BOD and the other for the mind.
I know what I would have done now that I'm a little older. But that is not the same now. So it is a difficult choice. At least there is someone like you who knows this regional locality, if you want to call it a locality. There was a pic of that truck that went off i-91 in the Keene Sentinal. Those drivers got to go slow in that area on purpose and not care if they are slowing cars down. Maybe that driver was shy about slowing down. I don't know but that is too bad. I have seen quite a few roll overs on i-91. Strange. Most were in wet freezeing snow stuff. I was scared to roll off so I went what others might have thought was too slow. Who cares if they think your going too slow. especially in bad weather. But they don't turn off the cruise control and air ride makes it worse because it makes it so that a driver loses perception of the speed they are traveling at and they can't feel the road as much with air ride cabs. I had owned a non air ride cab once. It probably saved my life. I could feel the slippery oil slick section. the water makes the oil ooze up onto the road surface. Some places far away have down hills that ooze up oil stains and those tractors with air ride end up sliding in the ditch. especially at night. when u can't see it. But with non air ride you can sort of feel it like you can feel your wheels slipping in the snow. I never understood why some drivers go 50 mph in No visability pea soup fog either. They should make a coalition effort to train drivers to react the same when entering a fog area. All drivers should slow down to x mph and put flashers on until they can pull off the side. Instead they all react different and go at dif speeds thru fog. Glad they didn't run in to me in pea soup. But passing me going 50mph there? If they go off the side ditch they probably found out they couldn't see at the last moment. It might have been fog,oil stains, ice, animals, etc. OOPs sorry I took up too much word space. I will get better at being more SUCINCT hopefully soon. good day neihbor.:)
