I'm having a problem with the ride on this tractor. It rides terribly and I don't remember it riding this bad when I first started driving it. We've started with the basics, new shocks and leveling valve on the cab. New shocks for the suspension. The cab, however is almost impossible to move up and down, it's stiff as a board. Does anyone know if this was a common problem with these particular trucks? If I have to keep driving it the way it is, I'm afraid I'll wind up with back surgery at some point. Twelve hours in this thing and you feel like you've been in a fight with a 2x4 and lost.

Do you have a suspension PSI gauge and if so what does it read while empty?

I do have one, I want to say it runs a little over 15 psi when empty. I'll be in it in the morning and if it's much different than that I'll let you know.

You should be able to grab the rear handle on the back of the bunk and move the cab up and down. If you have the series with the dual air bag, the ride height should be 6 1/2 inches. If it was too high or too low, it would also be a hard ride.

Thanks D, it's a day cab, so there's no bunk and it's a single air bag with 2 small shocks in the center of back of the cab. You definitely can't move the cab up and down by hand as is customary with air ride cabs. I didn't know if it was just this particular model that maybe had that specific problem. When you say the ride height should be 6.5 inches. You are talking about the air bag on the cab, right? Also, how do you measure it, top to bottom of the bag?

Oh, sorry, I forgot half of my information. That dimension is from the bottom of the bag to the top of the bag. Since you have a day cab that is a totally different air ride system. I have included a picture of what your system may look like. The dimension spec is 2 inches where the picture is pointing to "measuring point". Let me know if this isn't the type you have.

The bolts inside the horizontal torque bar like to seize up. This would prevent it from traveling, making the cab harder.

If the bushings at the ends of the torque bar are ok, you just torch out the bolts and install new ones. If the bolts are seized that badly inside the center of the bushing you might have to replace with new, but you still need to torch the bolts out anyway to get the bar out. When install with new bolts, coat the bolts with anti-seize and they won't seize ever again.

    cajun Thanks this.
