We refuse to do wheel seals for other trucks. We keep that inhouse. Our trucks only.

It is a huge liability if the wheels come off and kill someone like was mentioned. Our drivers are under strict watch for the 1st couple of weeks regarding oil level and bringing them back by the yard to check end play. Can't play it safe enough.

I've posted about this before as I didn't understand the intricacy of wheel seals. We are now confident that a job done to spec will remain on spec. Just my .02 cents on this.

good on the shop to step up and help with your ordeal though. kudos.

i think from now on when i have a wheel seal done, Im going to have bearing and races replaced regardless of what the mechanic says they look like. ill also keep a close eye on things like i did with the second shop.

also i was very happy with how the 1st shop handled themselves. i even let them repair a tire on my truck after the whole wheel bearing ordeal. even though i was upset with what happened the fact that they owned up to it and made things right there not on my black list. not my first choice but had they not handled things like they did i would have never let them within 100 ft of my truck for anything.

Funny TA was mentioned I had a hanger brg go on me in my freight in Kentucky so I stopped there since there sort of a freight sub dealer. Kid went under my truck rolled out said your hanger brg is gone. Then he disappeared and was on the phone? When he came back he told me the driveshafts pretty rusty and he was waiting to hear back from local team truck dealer about a new driveshaft. It was at this point I snapped I told him I was a licensed truck mechanic in Ontario and have never replaced a driveshaft during a hanger brg replacement. Needless to say he went very quite and relaced the brg in record time I might ad lol.

My experience has been wheels seal will weep for a good while before they gush. A good part of preventive maintenance is just laying under the truck and looking around.

I was adjusting my clutch last evening and when I was done I just lied there resting and listening to the sounds of the woods at night. My dogs came and lay up against me. I about half dozed off I was so comfy.

I know man, I lose all kinds of time under trucks and equipment. After I am done with what I had to do, I just keep looking and looking. I like to find it BEFORE, if I can.
